Returned from the Triumph dealer today after the 500 Mile service (625 on odometer) and noted on the receipt he used Bel-Ray EXL oil. This product is not synthetic or semi-synthetic. It does not meet the requirements called out in the owners manual API-SH or higher AND JASO MA. This oil only meets API-SG/CE specifications. If the dealer wasn't 120 miles round trip, I'd bring the bike back.

I'm hoping the next 3000 miles will be uneventful. Lesson learned, find the darn copper washer and do it yourself, or at a minimum, don't take for granted the Triumph/Ducati/Moto Guzzi/Victory dealer knows the specific oil requirements for your bike.

How about a little 'phone call to the idiot concerned, tell him the error of his ways and suggest he send a truck to collect the bike, do the f****** job properly and be a bit sharpish too ...

Contact Triumph & put the matter to them. I've made sure that 2 local dealerships lost their franchises because of such behaviour in the past. If they are not prepared to do the job properly, they should be stopped from doing it at all.
