Well, after spending months researching, reading this forum & TriumphRat & putting together a list of what I need now & what I will add later, I finally put my order in on 07 America (blue/white). It will be my first real bike and I will have a trial by fire riding it home this Saturday (hopefully). I completed the MSF course in February and have been itching to get all the stars properly aligned for this. And now the day is finally here. I've already tried to contribute some info already and hope, once I have the actual bike to reference, to be able to contribute further. Thanks for the advice and support! I've taken the proverbial red pill. Now that I am in Wonderland, I will see how deep the "rabbit hole" goes Conwy

Congratulations Conwy...As a first real bike I'm sure you'll appreciate the America, these bikes are light and easy to handle, just watch out for the knuckleheads in their cars....let the modifications begin.
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

I90 Motorsports in Issaquah, WA. I was also considering Lynnwood Cycle Barn as well. However, I was in an unusual situation in that I was going to be gone for most of June and half of July on business overseas. I went to both dealers, before I left, to explain about how I was going to contact them by e-mail and work out a deal long distance. I need the bike and some riding experience under my belt (ie 600 mile service) by the end of July. So I need the bike to be ready as soon as possible so I can get some experience. However, the sales person at Lynnwood did not impress me. He told me how he had a 2006 Speedmaster, blah-blah... When I asked him to start the bike and check out the stock exhaust, he tried to find the where to put the key up by the Speedo. I had to point out to him the location of the key switch back by the seat. That told me he had no idea about the bike and did not really own a Speedmaster.
Frank, at I90 Motorsports was easy to deal with online and did his best to work with me, over the distance. I tried to contact Lynnwood, while on the road, and their response was basically, "We don't deal with online quotes and are not that interested in your business. Call us when you get back and we'll talk." So I basically wrote off Lynnwood. Plus, some others around here had some good things to say about I90 Motorsports.
Unfortunately, I had a little trouble with my bank in trying to arrange the deposit to be sent to I90, so things ended up having to wait until I got back the other day. However, Frank (I90 Motorsports) has bent over backwards to help me and just called to say the bike will be ready tomorrow (Friday) versus Saturday or even early next week. Although, since this will be my first real bike. I'll wait until Saturday AM to get the bike. That way I will have less traffic to deal with, as I learn the bike and try to remember stuff from my MSF course back in Feb. August 1, I ride down to OR to meet up with my brother and his Sportster. He was the one who gently pushed me into the Triumphs and away from Yamaha. I know he is eager to see the bike as well. We'll have a good time.
Thanks again everyone. Even the Aussies. Some beautiful country and great people down under (even with all that "footy" stuff!), can't wait to (possibly) get back to SA later this year. Go and enjoy me some more of that fine Cooper Sparkling Ale! Wish I could bring my bike along. Conwy

When its time to pick the bike up. See if the guys in the dealership will take the bike to a big parking lot for you so you can practice for a bit "off Road". Just enough for you to re-acquaint yourself with the controls and feel comfortable before heading off with the traffic.
Some dealers will do that for you.
Good luck.

OK, picked up the bike this AM and safely made the ride from Issaquah and all the way over to Kent, on the back roads. Other than stalling a number of times, due to lack of practice, it wasn't bad at all. It was fun. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not help me with the rain. I was a little concerned since the tires were new coupled with the slick roads, so I took it careful and slow. I need to practice getting a start going uphill. I can easily do it with a manual transmission car, just need to practice it with the bike controls. When I take her in for the 600 mile service, they will install the Bubs, Unifilter, rejet, and mount the lightbar. All in all, I was pretty pleased with I90 Motorsports. They busted their butt to get the bike to me ASAP, plus they worked with me, online, while I was away on business on the other side of the world. My only concern is that it looks like the lights (front signal and headlight) are all slightly offset to the left. I don't know if they actually checked the beam alignment with the bike straight on. Not a huge deal as I can get them to check it at the 600 Mile service. Looking forward to some drier weather, this week, so I can get some miles and practice on her. Dang....I guess I AM a RAT now ?? Conwy

Downloaded 2 pics in the Member's Gallery. Still stock, except for the knee pads. Upgrades (ie Bubs, unifilter, remove AI, light bar) will happen in a few days. Had to get the 600 miles done first. I had a great ride to Mt. Rainier, today, and kept going to Yakima, up to I-90 and back to Kent. Bike performed beautifully the whole time.

Thanks very much!
This is my first real bike. I have had two very low speed laydowns, one on the left, the other the right. The one on the right was on my way home from the dealer. It had rained, the roads were slick, tires had just a few miles on them and I came up on a stoplight. The laydown on the left was again at a stoplight. My brother, on his scooter, was a little slow in pulling away, I was still in 2nd coming up slowly behind him. The bike wobbled and down she went. Fortunately, in both cases, my pride was hurt more than the bike. No damage to the paint. The stock pipes got scratched up and beat up. But I wasn't too worried, since they were going to be replaced by the Bubs.
I'm hanging onto the stock pipes and the AI gear, just in case I ever might need them.
But now I feel more comfortable on the bike and the hand-foot coordination. I'm no expert but I have improved. And cruising around with those Bubs is so much fun!!! I now feel respectable.
Although I am still trying to come up with a good Welsh name for her. Steve

Great lookin bike! I had the same problem w/ Lynnwood cycle. I was a hour north of Seattle and ended up w/ a rattail file in my rear tire. I checked w/ three dealerships from Bellingham and to the south of Seattle all were charging 185.oo installed. Except Lynnwood that price was just for the tire. Champion in Bellingham dialed me in!!! This is all important to me because I live 600 miles south of Seattle. I wonder is there a list of dealerships and how they are rated by the customers they serve?? I have appox. 10 dealerships in my cell phone (all on the west side of the Mississippi) and in dealing w/ some of them there are Some class act outfits and there are some that should not be allowed to fly the Triumph Fanchise Flag. when you travel the country you or even w/ in your home state a list w/ ###'S would be a great asset! Bob, That might have been me. I won't be going to Sowerbys, unfortunately. I have to cover for someone, for about 5 days, at my part-time job up north of Seattle. I am going to be brave and use her to deal with the "Great Concrete Kerfluffle" aka I-5 closure work. Steve

I 90 rocks! Who was your sales person...Don or Frank? So....I 90 is a great place to buy a bike but I have found that their RAT chapter is pretty low key if not non-existent. I did the Sowerbys ride earlier this year and rode with CB RATs. They are a pretty good group to ride with and am looking forward to a couple more rides that are upcoming (Sowerbys part II and Bend). Anyway....welcome to the oh so awesome world of Triumph ownership! Hope to see you on the road. I have the black America with the long cannons...yeah...the fast one Love the colors!
