Out of all the Blue Collar guys, Ron White is the best. Larry a second. I don't like the other guys' delivery... way too predictable. I never laughed so hard as when I saw Stephen Wright live. Lewis black a close second... I'd like to see Dane Cook too.

Don't forget Roseanne when she was still Barr, Carol Burnett, and of course, for our British contingent, Benny Hill. And Chris Rock. And the Smothers Brothers. There are so many.
He was fun while he lasted.

Of all time its hard to argue against Richard Pryor.
One guy you fellas haven't mentioned is Bill Hicks who is fantastic.
I'm partial to Jackie Martling's politically incorrect jokes as well, but in no way is he the best of all time. Also Chris Rock is fantastic when it comes to standup.

George Carlin used to be funny. Now he is old, tired and stupid. He blows. bill maher also blows big time. not funny just stupid.
Denis Leary is funny. I love his character in "Rescue Me"
Dennis Miller is a favorite. funny and oh so common sense truisms from his commentary.
Johnny Carson of course is right up there as an all time great comic.
al franken blows.
Bob Hope was always an all time favorite and a first class American of the first order. He is sorely missed today amongst this so called crop of "comics"
By and large we dont have many good comics left. Mostly just foul mouthed losers.

When I saw "The Birdcage", Robin Williams made me laugh so hard my face hurt. But when I saw "Up In Smoke", I laughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my stomach. So I pick Robin Williams for solo, and Cheech & Chong for comedy team.

Well, If we can include vaudeville / comedian my all time favorite would me Red Skelton. One on the most talented and nicest people I ever saw live. Second would be the the original kings of slapstick : The Three Stooges. Third Jackie Gleason, and awaaaaay we go! I like all forms of comedy, you guys named some great ones, those are but a few of mine. Laughter is a great drug, Newt you and I have laughed a few times. Mike

No doubt the funniest guy I ever saw was Red Skelton. I laughed until my pants were wet on more than one occasion...all without profanity. Second would be Carlos Mencia. He's funny and socially relevant. My number 3 guy? Hmmm. An oldie but a goody: Ernie Kovaks

No way I can pick one, though Carson would be high on the list. I've worked with 3 of the guys mentioned, but I can tell you what my 2 favorite comedy albums are.
Richard Pryor's Live on Sunset Strip. THat album is comedy school. Not a word wasted, crazy stories that go everywhere but you can break it all down like diagraming a sentence to set-up, punch. Set-up, punch. Set-up, Punch, tag, tag, tag.
Hard to pick one, but the 2000 year old man albums were pretty fantastic.
If you are at all interested in the craft of comedy, laugh.com has a series of CDs that are interviews with different comics about comedy. Carson and the as yet unmentioned Woody ALlen were my favorite. Woody Allen talking about writing on The Show of Shows with Mel Brooks is phenomenal.

Will Rogers, most of what he said is as true today as it was when he said it.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I'm glad Red Skelton finally got a mention. Don't forget the cast that Carol Burnett put together, Harvey Corman(sp?), and the VERY funny Tim Conway.

I second that followed by Mark Twain. Both of these guys had a real insight into the pertinent issues of the day. Rogers was real roper also-not an easy skill to pick up.

I was scrolling down this thread and couldn't believe that no one was mentioning the funniest guy ever.
Tim Conway. He could improvise in the most deadpan way ever.
And whenever he teamed with Korman, whew. The only comedy team that made me laugh 'til it hurt, literally!!! Tears, snot, and beating the floor

Mitch Hedberg - they should have an apartment depot it would be alot of people standing around saying we don't have to fix $hit. Lewis Black Gabriel Iglesias Patton Oswalt Adam Ferrara

+1 on Mitch Hedberg Redd Foxx Larry the cable guy Steven Wright
I admire those that are funny and can keep it clean, too. A lot of them just take cheap shots at easy targets or resort to shock value.

Reading through these post made me remember a comedy team that no one has mentioned.
Derek and Clive, aka, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.
If you can find a copy listen to an album called Derek and Clive Live. Side splittingly funny.
You can down load it from Limewire. I did.
