Are the left and right stock mirrors the same just flipped one side to the other. Not talking about the stem just the mirror?

NO, they are different.
You can also use just about any metric mirror with a 14mm nut on the stock stems though. I have VMax mirrors on mys stock stems. My wife's Magna mirrors also fit. If you need new mirrors, go to the YamaHonAsaki shop and find ones you like. Most will fit!

I Have after market Harley mirrors on both my and Wendys bike. I made adapters but I think MAS has a similar adapter.

I do too. You can actually see stuff with those mirrors. They were fairly inexpensive too. Here is a pic:

Here's the thing, yes I switched to the V-Max mirrors. I was going to send a stock left mirror to another member but they both look the same, have the exact same numbers on the back and every thing. How do I tell the left from the right?

Hmm, interesting, my stock Speedy mirrors are definetly different. Slightly, but different. It is also possible I am retarded, but then again, I may not always be right, but I am never wrong.

At first, they looked like they were different. Then I took them off the stems and I cant tell them apart. I flipped them around (left and right) a couple of times looking at the backs. All the numbers on the back-side of the mirrors are the same too (don't know if those are part numbers or not).

If I remember correctly, The Yamaha mirrors come in left and right. I bought two rights. I think the lefts have a left hand thread.

Yes, but that applies to the stems not the heads.

I think it is teh same way with the stock mirrors. left and right apply to the stems not the heads.

When I order the V-Max mirrors for my site they come with two different part numbers they MAY be different..but never really compared their stems as i just shelved them.
