After a little over 10 years with my current employer, I'm resigning to take advantage of an opportunity which came my way to work for a smaller company with fire in its belly and a great desire to serve its customers. Am I 'nervous' about doing this at almost 56 years of age and holding a very secure position where I am? A little, perhaps, but I think 'excited' would be a better description. I need a new injection of passon about what I do to earn my paycheck, and it just ain't happenin' here. The aviation services company I'll be associated with is based in Boise, ID, but I'll continue working out of LIT for at least the next 12 months as part of my negotiated contract. Wish me luck!

Good luck, John! (hopefully you'll have to do a lot less "subverting the Dominant Paradigm" at your new company...that's very taxing on the psyche, as I'm sure you know)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Very cool. Nothing like a bit of a change to stir the blood. Best of luck to you.

John, Best wishes to ya on your next great adventure. I'll be 54 in November and next summer I may be leaving North Alabama for the Gulf Coast - Louisville, KY or Witchita, KS. The company I work for is closing half our operations here. I may go back to pipe fitting, to stay here or travel for short term jobs, but a travel trailer is in my future either way. But I like the fact that the folks I work for gave us 2 years notice. Mighty good of them (i think). Such is life - things change. I wish you the best, and congrats are due to you having the guts to take a chance.
Ride Safe,
Dennis

Congratulations on the new job. Whether you are 56 or 26, finding a job that you are excited about and passionate about is fantastic. Not to mention the fact that Boise is supposed to be a beautiful area....Sounds like you managed to grab the brass ring.
