Need help, my rear tail light and dash panel lights are not working. I pluued the light buls and they are fine, even swapped some they even worked.

Owners manual and service & repair manual inidcate to check the fuses. From top 5amp fuse has no continuity. Lots of corrosion white powder residue coming from fuse connectors.

Any suggestions,.

Thanks

replace with fresh fuses and try and clean the connections best you can. A little baking soda mixed with water will neutralize any acid but blow it dry right away.

So I should be able to remove or slightly move the fuse box out and rinse with water and small amount of baking soda.
Will I be able to use a can of compressed air? then follow will electrical parts cleaner and electrical grease connector, right.

Thanks!

yes thats the idea but mix the baking soda and water together. I only suggest that to get rid of any possible acid from the battery.

How's the front tail light?

Kidding.

Ian's got the right advice.

Some more advice....

Get one of those nail files with the diamond dust on it (thinnest is best). File the edges so it is slightly wider than the fuse leg and narrow enough to fit into one of the leg slots and use this to clean up the metal connectors (I also cut mine down to about 2" long).

Once everything is clean, put a good coating of di-electric grease (any parts store has it) on the fuse legs and re-install fuses.

Any exposed flanges can be cleaned by using a common pencil eraser to burnish the surface, this is an old, old contact cleaning trick. Works on cell phone batteries, too! Then follow with what Phil and Ian said.

Did this happen after changing the headlight? If so, you reversed the two wires when reinstalling. Don't ask how I know.

That was it!
I did replaced the healight bulb and reversed the polarity for the position/parking light so it burned the fuse.
Removed the wires and replaced the fuse then found the right polarity with a tester reconnected the right way and done!

Thanks a lot guys!
