Have you ever been at a party or some function when you walk up to a group of people having a general conversation. Once there you put some input into the discussion but no one even seems to notice that you are there let alone actually added to the conversation.

Well this is something I have picked up some time back here but I have never said anything about it. I now think it is time to let my feeling be known. I joined this site on the 11/09/05 and have made around 730 posts. However I still feel like an intruder here joining in a thread only to notice that for some reason my post seem totally invisible to the rest of the board.

So consequently the more apparent this is becoming to me the less I feel like posting.

I am sure everyone notices. I was going to ask why there was a blank space where a post belongs as a joke but decided not to. This site is different than a chat room in the fact that not every post gets replied to but every bit of info is taken into count and weighed into the equasion.

I dunno Dave.
I don't respond to every post that I read.

Quite often my comments aren't responded to either. It's OK.

Sometimes I just don't have anything to add, and posting an um-hum or something else just to post isn't something I do.
Doesn't mean I don't value the posts.
I'm sure there are many who feel the same way.

(not Ian though. He responds to everything )

I know how you feel. I'm a moderator and I've been on this site since nearly its inception over 5 years ago, but often I don't feel like I get a response unless I insult someone.

Not that I'm suggesting you start insulting people...

Maybe I should change it to the Invisible One

At time I get the feeling that 90% are just reading the initial post and not the entire thread so any comment made in the thread seem to be overlooked or just missed.

Now THIS could get FUN!!!

But then again, I don't know, Dave.

This insulting thing could backfire on ya, see?! One day you may find that after posting numerous opinions about a wide variety of things on this website, that most people who know a thing or two about what you've posted will quite often respond to your posting by starting with somethin' along the lines of..."I hate to admit this but I agree with..."DAVE" here!"

Ya see where I'm goin' with all this, don't cha Dave?! You could be headed for big trouble if you go down THAT road, Kid!!!

But then again, you're SURE to get a whole heck of a lot MORE feedback if you DO, Dude!!!

(take it from the "voice of experience")

Dave, its pretty simple. Read the thread, figure out the most reasonable opinion on the discussion, look at the common ground they all agree on, and post the exact opposite opinion. Sit back and watch the sparks fly, laughing all the way. You will get a response. Not that I would ever do that, just a suggestion. That would also give Phil, Friar John, and others something to do as they read the thread you just fired up

Dave, is TriumphTalk.com strictly a South African forum? And, why didn't you put up Charlize Theron in the hottest actress category?

No we have an equal mix from SA, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, but mostly the USA.

I though about a Charlize Theron area but then it occurred to me that you would not have any one posting in any other area.

Hey Dave,

Don't feel invisible. After all you are the only one using that South Africa Biker cross avatar that was made just for you.

Not to mention most everyone goes nuts over most of those pics that you post.

DaveM, I used to get that invisible feeling everytime I encountered a group of beautiful young ladies. Any more I guess I'm considered safe (in a fatherly way) so I have reappeared.

I have days where I feel invisible too. Not necessarily on here, but other forums too.

Though some days I'm quite happy to be invisible.

And I do read most threads, just don't always feel I have something worth saying and so say nothing. I don't read threads with a title were I feel I'm gonna be riled. I used to, but it just ain't worth it anymore.

WhatĆƒĀ¢Ć¢ā€šĀ¬Ć¢ā€žĀ¢s all this whining about being invisible? WeĆƒĀ¢Ć¢ā€šĀ¬Ć¢ā€žĀ¢re motorcyclists, weĆƒĀ¢Ć¢ā€šĀ¬Ć¢ā€žĀ¢re used to being invisible!

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yeah FJ, but are you "as helpless as a kitten up a tree"?

Heck! I didn't think you could get that mass o' yours up ANY tree, for cryin' out loud!

(I feel a whole new head-smackin' comin' my way in about a month when you're down here in SoCal, right?!)

I'm picturing one of those giant California redwoods, the ones big enough to drive a car through, and a very sturdy crane to get up there.

Wow! Now THERE'S a picture!!!

'Cept, as you probably know, those big ol' giant California Redwoods don't come down this way any further south than say the upper Kern River, north of Lake Isabella. So's unless you're thinkin' about doing THAT on your way down here, I gotta remind ya that Riverside and points south(like Julian and Mt.Palomar) ain't got none o' those big suckers like that, Dude!

(at least as far as I remember, that is)
