A problem has arisen on '05 SM. Grease is flinging out over the front hub. It appears it may be too light a grade grease for the temps here, has anyone encountered this problem before?

The seals should keep the grease in unless it is so bloody hot you wouldn't want to ride anyway. It sounds like there is a bad seal or exessive pressure buildup in the hub (could be overheating if the axle nut is over torqued so much that there is too much bearing friction). Sorry mate, but it sounds like it's time to take it to the shop.

Hmmm only 5oookms on it, been doing it a while, any chance it was overgreased at the factory? Will drop it into the shop anyway, don't like the thought of the bearings being over tensioned ?????

It's not likely that it was over greased, they are sure to use a dispenser that puts out a set amount. I guess it might have been at the wheel mounting stage just at noon and got an extra shot when the assembler came back from lunch. I'd give a bad seal first guess. Could have been mounted backward. That's easy enough to do, as they look pretty much the same from both sides and there is an occasional one that accidentally turns over during assembly so it gets marked on the wrong side. As many Triumphs as we are buying up these days, I can see how they wouldn't have time to look which way the rubber lip inside is facing on every seal.

This brings up the question, should we be re-greasing these when we remove/replace the wheel?
