Anyone here a rumor about Triumph planing on building a 1500cc BA in a couple of years? If it's true I can't wait to ride one.

NO, haven't heard that one. Maybe something about a bike called the SPEEDMASTER but that is pretty much just going to be an inferior copy of the TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE AMERICA.

That rumour has been around (here too) for a while now. We are not sure what the name will be but it will be around 1500cc. There's a thread I started in the "other bikes" section which I am hoping will be updated on Monday.

Well, that's close. More like I heard a rumor two years ago Triumph was planning a 1500 I'll believe it when the Dinqua adds it to his jetting calculator.

Yeah Mike, there's been a 'few' rumors on here over the last couple of years and they've been discussed ad nauseum.
I figure you haven't searched this forum for those threads so please understand the replies you are getting.....

I am willing to bet that there will be an official announcement or sufficient evidence of this model within the next 90 days.
Any takers?

Let me know when it's in the showroom, and if it will have a "T" or "J" in the VIN.
If it's got the "T", you can keep it.

The T indicates the bike is made in Thailand. The J is for the Hinckley factory.
If Triumph is going to make bikes in Thailand they should at least come out and say so publicly. To put a Union Jack on a bike built in Thailand is disingenuous. Be honest & put a Thai flag on them.

I actually thought the vin letter designation represented the main company's location not necessarily where the motor cycle is contracted to be built. Kind of like these Honda cars are built in the USA but still have a "J" vin

From what I understand, the parts for the paralell twin bikes are manufactured in Thailand, but are assembled in England. Either way, it is still a British designed and engineered bike, built to Triumph's specifications and quality standards so it is still a British bike, it is still a Triumph.
Most Toyotas are assembled in the U.S., but no matter how you look at it, they are still Japanese cars.
One more thing, as I understand it, Triumph is the only real British vehicle company, all the others are owned in part or whole by U.S. or German companies.

I read where Harley completely assemblys their bikes and ships them to some intermediate country where they are partially disassembled and recrated. Then they are shipped to Malasia, when they are reassembled to get around the import tax. Starting price there is $40K.

They are being honest. Just that some of the parts are being manufactured in Tailand.

And Fords made in Mexico or Brazil are still American cars? Not really. But that's the way of a worldwide economy. But gradually the standards of living for poorer countries will be brought up beyond the status of slaves. But of course the corru............

Sure they are. They are an American company. The cars are designed and built to the standards of the company that is an American company, so they are American cars.
If you go to a Mexican restuarant, it is Mexican food, not American food just because it was made in the U.S. If you go to a Mexican restaurant in Italy, it is still Mexican food, not Italian food.

So if it's really OK that parts (engine? tranny?) for the Triumphs are made in Thailand, why doesn't Triumph tell the public this?
If they're so proud of it, there should be signs in the showroom exclaiming it.
