Too bad you can't opt to ignore an thread so it doesn't show. It's a pain to have to sort through a bunch of stuff to talk general motorcycle that ends up in the lounge. It would be nice to have a 'motorcycle lounge' so everyone who wanted to clutter up a forum with non-bike related stuff could have at it in the current lounge and general motorcycle stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else could go in the motorcycle lounge.

Another bike forum that I belong to has that, a rambling section and the lounge seem to work quite well in this type of instance.

that's why the lounge is the lounge and other forums are designated as they are.

That's a bit harsh, don't you think. We're just having a bit of fun, and you have to go call us morons. Definitely not nice of you to characterize us in such a derogatory manner. As punishment, you must now go drink a 5-year-old, flat, luke-warm, CAN of Old Milwaukee beer. That'll learn ya!

I was actually giving everybody the benefit of the doubt there, as moron depicts an IQ range of 50-69. I could have gone with imbecile (20-49), or idiot (below 20), and not have been too far off.

Ahhh, the good old battle between those who believe the Lounge is only for talk of motorcycles, and those who believe it is for GENERAL discussion. Even without the Taboo talk, controversy rears it's ugly head once again... Hmmm, which emoticon to use? or or or or... Perhaps we should start a "Most likely to whine because the Lounge isn't molded in my image" post...

General discussion is fine and 99% of subjects are cool, even 'best/worst of'. None of of those inane threads were touched, right? However, when it comes down to 'best toe jam medicine', we drew a line in the proverbial sand. Sheesh.....
We had thought everyone here was an adult but now it seems we have to run roughshod over a pack of three year olds.
So be it.

Yes, but many times someone will post a general bike related thing in the lounge because just talking bikes doesn't necessarily fit anywhere else. I was wishing for something like a 'bike related lounge'. If there were such a thing, I think many of us would just ignore the current lounge altogether. But many post bike stuff in the lounge because that's where many go first, or they can't find a good fit for their post. I think many good bike related potential discussions that end up in the lounge get quickly buried by all the other 'stuff'.

Well Dave, my "best guess"(so to speak) is that the "Dog Days of Summer" are nippin' at some of the peoples' heels 'round here right now...that's all.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

This forum would be ...in the opionion of many of the longer members a boring place if all that was discussed here was strictly motorcycles and the intricacies of rejetting or whether to "freak" or not to "freak"
Seems like a minority of people "Freak Out" whenever there is any sophomoric off topic posting going on.
Ocasional drunken posting or light hearted non existential good for nothing at all posts keep things light and palatable.

Hey don't accuse me of being an adult! It's just a clever disguise. I love the blather I love to blather I love reading the blather,to me it makes it like hanging out with friends and not just a dry tech session even though I greatly enjoy the tech talk too. It's like hanging out in the garage or the CT Tech day we did tech stuff but also got to just talk and get to know one another just like we do here in the lounge. Ian

Kwitcherbitchin. If you see a thread titled, "Best guitar player" the content should be obvious. If you're not interested, don't open the thread. There is a filter to ignore subjects you don't want, it's inside your head.

Not this old chestnut again, I'd thought this topic had been lain to rest...apparently not There's been a lot of thought put in by the guys who run this show to address any issues, upgrades and general smooth running of the site over the past five years. Experience and feedback have built this site into what it is now, it is the best BA site on the globe! It's simple, and it works just fine IMO. There's a section for every possible posting whether tech, rallies, customs, general discussion or not. Nothing wrong with the forum as it is, it's a place where folks can chat, bond, share non bike related issues, what's the harm in that! To be honest, I've not met as many new friends as I have through this site...it's working just fine as it is!!!
