After 8-9 hours on the bike Saturday, and a couple more hours Sunday, my butt was not happy at all. I ordered the Airhawk Monday afternoon from derbycycles.com, and it arrived at my door today...pretty impressed with the quick shipping. I've read some pretty good reviews about it here; I'm going to try it out this weekend. If it doesn't work, I may have to try more drastic measures...like the Tiger! Will

Hope it works for ya. I tried the soft bottom crossgel thing. The 1 3/4" job you can build in. The plan was to throw it on and try it, then build it in if it worked. Couldn't see where it did anything. Pretty disappointing.
Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

I've thought of getting one. Please let us know how it works out.

I've had the chance to put some miles on the Airhawk the last few weeks. It took a few rides to get used to it, and to get it inflated correctly...I over-inflated it initially. Sitting on it felt kind of mushy and unsettling until I got used to it...now, it feels fine as soon as I sit on it. I still get "numbbutt" on longer rides, but it definitely takes longer to hit me w/ the Airhawk. Last week, I took it off since I knew I'd just be riding around town. I was surprised at how quickly the seat felt uncomfortable without the pad. I suppose that's a pretty good indication of how it feels. Anyway, I definitely would recommend the Airhawk as a fairly cheap improvement for the stock seat. (I've never sat on a Corbin or any other non-stock seats, so can't compare it to those more-expensive options).

I've done about 40klm on mine and so far so good. As we all know, the big test comes with the big ride. Here's a photo for those that are interested. I'm actually pretty excited though cos in my case I have found a really bad problem with the Corbin backrest and how it anchors in the seat. Basically, there is only about a 1/4" between my tail bone and this post so after an hour of riding, it starts to get really (I mean really) uncomfortable. My bet is the airhawk which has some great raves over here will do the trick quite nicely

I got one back in June, I don't take rides of over 50 miles without it anymore. Monkey butt is not completely eliminated but sore butt bones and walking funny for 2-3 days after a long ride are.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I bought one, and maybe i'm just not used to it yet, but so far i don't like it. As a disclaimer, i'm a big fat guy and it may just be that my big fat rear end is too big for the pad. I went on a somewhat long ride the other day, started out with the airhawk, after about an hour, i put it in my friend's saddlebag and found the stock seat to be more comfortable. I think I'll give it another try this weekend, if i still don't like it, it'll be in the classified section here.

Hi Scott, I really respect your honest mate. Yes I think when it comes to seats we are all different and it's about finding the one best suited to your build so to speak.
I have no evidence but there has also been a lot of discussion about the Corbin seat and whether it too is comfortable. I broached the subject during one thread suggesting this could be a factor for those who didn't like it and from memory a couple believed this could make the difference.
What I like about your honesty though and I hope you are wrong and find the hawk really good but if not, you are helping others who like yourself are endowed more generously than myself for instance.
It certainly is an interesting one, so fingers crossed it's only a false alarm and the seat works well.
What type of seat do you have Scott? I was just wondering why there wasn't more discussion on seats that did suit larger butts that's all. I guess it is a sensitive one but I really think no one actually cares either way. Just my opinon

My wife has one and I use it for all my long rides. I had a Corbin, stocker seat and a custom built seat. The Airhawk is wonderful!

I just have the stock seat. It's ok, but after about 2 hrs or so, sometimes less, I need to stop and walk around a bit. I think the stock seat is comfortable, and it fits me well, but i guess it could use a little more padding. I bought the large airhawk, think I'm going to try it out again tomorrow. Then again maybe it's just me. This is only my second year riding, maybe I just haven't developed the "iron butt" yet. My ****** will probably hurt after a while no matter what, I just need to get tougher.

Kaiser, After about 300 miles I still get a little butt sore, but nothing that a 10 minute gas and smoke break don't cure. I use the large sized one too by the way, and proper inflation is the key to them. You need to have minimal air in them, they are not like an air mattress at all. The directions give an excellent description on exactly how full it should be. Even if you get too much air in, you can always bleed a little while riding with their nice valve setup. Good luck.
