Went for a nice ride on Friday, about a mile from home, hit a patch of dirt and dust from a construction site next to the road while braking. Down went the bike, at around 40 MPH. Road rash....Check, busted up right knee....check, sprained right wrist.....check, PO'ed for doing something so stupid....darn right check!
Called insurance, they're taking care of right now, dented tank, and various small parts broken and twisted.
What a bummer of a weeeknd.
You all ride safe now you hear!

Bummer dude! Hope all heals up quickly for you and your baby.

We should hook up for a ride some time. Dam, Yorkville is soooo close to my estates. Maybe 20 miles at most.

Bummer indeed, Pete. Sorry to hear. But trust me, many of us here have been down this same road before(and unfortunately sliding down it too), but in just a few short months you will find that most of this "inconvenience" just seems to fade from memory, and you'll find yourself riding that same road with just that part of your memory that says to ya..."Be careful ridin' past construction sites".

Here's to a speedy return of your wheels.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thats almost what happened to me & my new America -totalled after a couple of hundred K's - only doin 70kms an spun out on some gravel in a tight corner - busted knees, wrist - feeling more stupid than any pain inflicted.
Awaiting a new one(insurance write off) - gotta wait longer for the Blue/white color scheme. Is the green color scheme an 05 color or is particular only to the states - can't get it here in Oz on the 07 models - I like it as much as the blue
Good Therapy for sprained wrist - 20 clutch pulls on a norton commando twice a day - It's almost as good as gold again after 3 weeks
Commiserations on your spill and hope you are up & running very soon.

man this is an epidemic. I was finally feeling good enough to take the busted parts off my bike over the weekend, sat on it tried to stand her up. Collar bone said no why dude not yet.

Anyway glad you are ok (sorta). All those dinged and dented and rashed parts can be replaced, You cant.

Do you have to be ON your bike for it to count? I fell off a fence while waiting for my bike to warm up at a friend's house. It was a nice little drop behind the fence. Went to the hospital but the gash in my head wasn't big enough for stitches.

Oh, I forgot, I dropped a friend's Suzuki while turning around on gravel in 1987. Does that count?

Hey, I just dropped a friend's Honda turning in gravel a while back. If you're gonna drop one, might as well not be yours!

Thats why I don't want to take out my husbands bike out even though I have the license, I'm just afraid that I would dump it. Husband keeps telling me take it out for a ride and if I wreck it that is what insurance is for.

The other day my 14 year old niece told me there are three kinds of people in this world, "Those who can count and those who cannot".

I took her for a spin, now she wants to buy a motorcycle
