I come home yesterday after filling up with fuel and park my bike in its normal spot. I return to it minutes later to lube the chain and move it back 1 meter and put it back on its side stand. Once I did this I noticed that approximately an 1/8 to a 1/4 litre of fuel drains out the bottom of my speedy through what appears to be some sort of drain.

Is this normal??? Did I happen to over fill the tank and this is a safety mechanism resulting from expanding fuel in an over filled tank??? I did have the bike in for an oil change a few days earlier. Did they forget to replace a plug? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ceuls

Overfull gas tank. Stuck float valve (tap carbies). Hole in the tank. Loose float bowls.

Most likely you over filled your tank and a little ran out the vent line. It happened to me once not a big deal. When you fill up make sure you don't go over the top of the large hole inside your tank than gas will run into the little hole which is your vent line and it will exit on the ground near the back wheel.

if life gives you lemons keep them because hey, free lemons.

also, i found that if i hold the bike up straight when filling it,if you don't take off right away and burn it, when you put it on the side stand it will come out the overflow. Now I just fill it on my side stand and have no troubles,

Many thanks! I was hoping it was something like that.
