OK, I admit that I don't know the difference between the pair.
Jim's risers are not working for me. I got a pair of (ape hangers?) the other day at a swap meet. ($5) They are probably 9" between the bars, 9 - 10 '' high depending on where you measure to and turn out, rather than down. Does that sound right. I know there has been plenty of talk about varying the handlebars but what is the main difference between the the two?
Cheers

Buckhorn bars will be shorter and the grips point more down with the knuckles facing to the sides. Apes have your knuckles facing forward. Sounds like you picked up what they call "mini" apes.

Hey thanks for that. These ones don't have knurled sections for the mounts to grip. Would that be a problem? I am going on a big trip soon but I think I will wait till after to replace them. Just in case. Does anyone know if the stock cables will fit? I am reluctant to change them only to have to go back. I don't mind the stock bars but the need to come back a bit more. Which tells me the cables will need replacing anyway.
Thanks again.

I can't say for sure if the stock cables would fit. I asked my dealer if my SM cables would be long enough to put BA bars on and he didn't think they would. I'll be changing the bars out as well on mine, but I figure I should wait until I have enough dough to buy the cables and new carbs.
