Has anyone tried fitting the chromed, finned circular fittings that Old Triumphs had covering the header pipe right where the pipe bolted to the Cylinder Head exhaust flange, onto the newer models? I think it'd be a cool retro touch to try fitting those finned covers onto our bikes, not sure how much cooling value they'd add, but it'd look snazzy!

I think Bob Scoggins did. Not sure if he's still around here or not. Don't know how he did it, if he modified old clamps or fabbed new ones. Maybe he'll pop up online.

Yep, I stashed a picture in my gallery...

I had them on my '67 Bonnie, pretty sure I bought them from JC Whitney way back then. Any idea who sells them now?

I'll do some checking, but if someone already knows....

Yeah I think those would look good on the pipes. Any info would be appreciated.

http://www.moorescyclesupply.com/order-catalogs.htm

Just found this weblink a few minutes ago, the things are referred to as Exhaust Finned Clips, on this catalog they're listed as $27.33 each and seem to vary in diameter from about 1-1/4 up to 1-3/4 depending on the exhaust pipe diameter. Anyone know offhand, what the diameter of our header pipes are? No biggie, I'll just caliper one after work today..

If and when either of you order and install these let us know. Have either of you figured out the official size of the header pipes yet? (I don't have a caliper)
Thanks!
Bill

RoundSlide does not ride a Triumph anymore and has not posted on this board since 3/29/07 so I doubt you will get an answer.
