This is an excerpt from an article by motorcycle guru/journalist Alan Cathcart, (also correspondent to a Greek m/c magazine). Quote, The new Triumph Street Triple 675 ... ... will be the first in a series of new models produced by the British manufacturer. Amongst them, we'll see the Rocket III Tourer, the 1.500cc Parallel Twin cruiser, the dual-purpose Tiger Cub 675 and the 3-cylinder Daytona 1100 Superbike. ... For 2008, Triumph is expecting to launch a range of 1.500cc parallel twin models it has been developing over the last 4 years, which will probably have shaft drives. Unquote He goes on to mention that within the 1.500cc range, their will be a Speedmaster-like cruiser and the Mega-Bonneville with an 8-valve engine. Launch time is September yes? Not too long now ...

Cool stuff indeed, Thanassis. After these babies hit the market, I don't see Triumph having any holes left to fill in their lineup. Man do I wish Triumph was a publicly traded enterprise. I'd buy all the stock I could right now! (already missed the boat on that Harley and Starbucks thing, ya know)

I had that exact same thought when the 675 was awarded "motorcycle of the year" by a couple of magazines and took first place in both street and track tests on motorcycle usa.com and any of the other awards that bike has won. I've loved my speedy since day one but with all the awards they've won... I figured that they wern't gonna stop with the 675 and nothing in between the america/speedy and the rocket 3 and I wanted in on the ground floor.

I was at my dealer today, and asked them about it. They seemed pretty sure we'll se a new large-displacement, air-cooled cruiser in the spring of '08. September seems pretty close to me, considering the lack of substantial information so far. They did seem authoritative when they said that the supposed target is 100 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. Sign me up!

No way it would be released in September 2007. That's the beginning of Alabama/Florida college football season.

Nothing Bedouin hasn't already said, but you can read the article by clicking here. Not really interested in the big cruiser. My Speedmaster is heavy enough as it is, and I don't want some 650 lb or more fat bike, which I'm sure it'll be. Now that 675 Tiger Cub that can go offroad...

The reason I said launch date (not production) is because the most major manufacturers normally LAUNCH their new models at the main motorcycle exhibitions of Munich/Milan (alternating each year) or perhaps Paris between September and November. Actual manufacuring would commence in December etc. Either way, if this indeed is a 2008 model (and I personally believe it will be), we should be seeing pictures (and drooling) of it by September 2007 (corrected), if not before ...

Hmm lets see, wifes chevy will be paid off next month...My truck will be paid off in Feb..so If the new 1500 is a reality i could be shopping in the spring for one and give the America to the OL. Gonna have to wait and see, big factor for me will be weight and style, thats whst I like most about the America is the light weight.

I was told they had to move the Dealer Conference back later in the fall just to have the bike ready to debut.

Cycle News has a short article about news and rumors with Triumph. It said that the 1500 will be an '09 model and will be a parallel twin. It also said that Triumph will create another bike from the 675 motor, the Tiger Cub, but will be much more of an enduro bike than the last model of the Tiger or the scrambler. Plus they also stated that there will be a return of a larger race ready Daytona, using a more race ready tuned 1050 motor.

I've noticed a lot of "anti-shaftdrive" sentiment here. Can one of you guys who feel this way explain what your objections are.
Having owned a 1980 Yamaha XS1100(bought new and owned for 15 years), I understand that one objection could be the rear suspension "rise" that some of the older shaft-driven designs had(usually attributed to the swingarm being too short), but most of the newer designs have either a parallelogram-type system which cancels this effect, or have longer swingarm/shaft designs which cancels most of this effect.
Shafts are basically very low-maintenance and a very clean way to drive the rear wheel, so I don't quite understand the reluctance here.

Does the 1500 get the same kind of mods? One thing that annoys me a lot is when someone with a modified bike compares it to a stock version of another. My mildly modified TBA will run with bikes with twice the displacement if they're stock. If they get similar mods, basically freeing up the breathing and rejectting/remapping the air-fuel mixture, they'll eat my bike's lunch. (Whether or not they can out ride me is another question.)

I was closer to suggesting the issue of handling performance as related to horsepower to weight ratio, for instance - how some 500s & 750s can often outrun the 1000+ cc bikes, with comparatively skilled riders.

I was kinda thinkin that too... If the power to weight ratio is similar then it's kinda mute. Altho, maybe there is more potential with the larger displacement.
