Does anyone know how to get hold of the Triumph windshield mounting brackets only?

My dealer says they only come with the windshield, but I have two of those and only one set of brackets.

I do not know where you can buy the brackets separate from the shield, but you can buy the bolt Kit for them. Something outrageously pricey too. I tried to call the folks that actually make the shield but they said call Triumph. Although I do not think they are, you might inquire about the bolt kit to ascertain if the brackets are part of that 'kit'.

Big Science, Hallelujah. Yodellayheehoo.

One word of caution: Locktite.

Ron, your dealer is wrong. I bought the mounting brackets as separate items. The upper ones come as a set (includes the two plates on the bottom, two bars, and rubbers, screws, bolts, etc.). Each of the two lower brackets come individually. The three crome decorative straps that go on the front of the screen come with the screen, and are not available separately. I just used plastic licence plate bolts with chrome button covers to fill the holes. Looks OK.

I don't know the Triumph part numbers, but if your dealer still doesn't know I can check my invoice.

Make sure you order the correct bracket kit, though. I had 2 seperate sets from Triumph and couldn't get the Roadster screen to fit. After a call for help on the forum jj came up trumps for me and mailed me a set. I can only think that the bracket kit is different for each type of screen so take care and specify either fly, summer or roadster screen.

I priced the mouting kit for a roadster screen yesterday from my dealer. It was $79 with a 10$ discount and sales tax. That includes the rubber and metal peices.

If anyone finds a price on just the Triumph Summer Screen hardware, please post it. If the price is close to Dick's roadster pricing, the Clearview option would be very feasible without having to buy the actual Triumph shield.

RE: Locktite. The reason I was pricing brackets is that when my roadster shield was originally installed from the dealer, the installer evidently applied RED Locktite to one of the screws that holds the shield to the top bracket-and nothing to all the other screws and bolts. When I tried to remove the screw for cleaning I found there was no way to remove that one screw. The other screws have come loose periodically and I retighted them but there are are hair line stress crack out from the monting holes. No more Triumph windshields for me. I can't decide between Clearview, National Cycle or Memphis Fats.

The Triumph roadster buffeted the top of my helment badly.

This is for the SUMMER SCREEN only, as posted by BLACKWIND: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...true#Post119463

According to my girl Ashley at British-USA, the parts are available separately, and are as follows:

Lower Mounting Bracket part #s A9750206 & A9750207 @ $36.58/ea.
Upper Fixing Kit (the bars) part # A9918018 @ $82.73
Bolts (2) part # A9710148 @ $1.65/ea. (this didn't work with my dealer)
Lock Nuts (2) part # 3350004-T0301 @ $1.98/ea.

I also had to order 2 top yoke brackets p/n A9733493 $15 /ea
Total cost was close to $200 for hardware alone
My Clearview Shield should come in this week - I'll let you know how everything fits. - Dale -

Hi Redbike:

Who was your dealer, and did they give you a part number?

Thanks!

The dealer is
Lone Star Triumph/BMW
10600 North Lamar Blvd.
Austin, TX 78753
512-451-7979
800-729-3807
fax 512-452-5137

Closed Mondays

Ask for Kathy in parts. Remind her she was talking to Richard Cooper about the roadster mounts for an America. They are voted the number 1 or 2 dealer in Texas for service every year so I think she will be a big help.

If I remember right, there were two part numbers-one for the upper metal and rubber and one for the lower rubber and metal.

Good luck

Yes, the brackets are for the Roadster screen and I think the Triumph replacment windshield is around $300 by it self-no brackets. It is very strong material but you can't polish it if it gets scratched by a rock or bug and the polycarbonate material is prone to soak up moisture from the air.

I beg to differ. I take out scratches and clean mine up like new using Novus #2 plastic polish. It is made specifically for polycorbonate - it works perfect.

I stand corected. I was told polycarbonate would not polish and my polish would not do it. Guess I used the wrong stuff.
