I just received my first issue of Rider magazine (August 07) and was reading through the Letters to the editor. Apparantly there was an article in the July (maybe June)(ok as seen below, it was the march issue, thanks) issue by Bill Heald about Alton Brown (of food network fame) and an article by Clement Salvadori titled 'Smell and Tast of Motorcycling. If anyone has a copy, I was hoping they might scan the articles in and email them to me. If you are willing, PM me and I'll get you my email.

As you can see from my sig, food is very important to me, and Alton Brown is probably the only 'celeb' I'd go out of my way to meet.

I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks

Andrew

I like his show....I saw "Feasting on Asphalt". It was a good show.
Here's a cut and paste from his site:
"Rider Magazine
March 2007 issue covered AB's east-to-west trek for Feasting on Asphalt last spring, with photos.

Can't help you with the articles.

Food-wise, I'd rather meet Anthony Bourdain, but I do watch Alton Brown occasionally.

Thanks for the link and the re-airing news. I hadn't known that. I went to the Rider Mag website but can't find any old articles there at all. That's why I posted here.

I'll just have to keep looking.

Anthony Bourdain is the Anti-Celeb chef. I've eaten at Les Halles in NYC and it is unfathomable. Alton Brown is a cool dude as well, but it's like comparing apples and oranges.

Hey, try not to dump your bike and break your collarbone like he did...prematurely ended the trip and the series of good bike/food shows.

Yes he had prior bike experience, he's been riding for a long time according to what I could find out.

Feasting on ashpalt 2 is supposed to be shooting right now with an August airing date.

I always wondered if there were supposed to be more than the 4 shows that were aired. They never said and he did make it to his destination (by cage for the last part).

Man, that sucks. Good Eats is always a toss up for me cause it's on the same time as Jeopardy.

Then you'll be happy to know that the show is moving to 8PM eastern time on July 9th according to Alton's website.

Looked to me like he grabbed the front brake while on a gravel road (really a path). Never a good idea. The hospital segment was very entertaining

Bourdain has a show on the travel channel called No Reservations Required. In one episode he did in Texas he rode a BMW and did a rear wheel slide 180 like he knew what he was doing. But it's not just his motorcycling prowess over Brown that puts him above Alton. I just like the way he gets into food over Brown's more scientific approach. But then he's not a show and tell kind of TV Chef like Brown, so like you said...apples and oranges.

When I was in the service doing TDYs, I always tried the local cuisine ala Bourdain. In Cigli, Turkey it was the Mussels on a stick, In Rota, Spain it was the little sea snails they set on the bar as a snack in the same way we'd put out pretzels or peanuts. In Nairobi, Kenya it was a restaurant called The Carnivore where they had giants hunks of African game roasting on spits.

Me either. It's that HEED! It's like an orange on a toothpick. That's a virtual planetoid. Has it's own weather system. That woman's head is like Sputnik; spherical but quite pointy at parts! She'll be crying herself to sleep tonight, on her huge pillow.

Well, that and her smile. THE most fake looking smile on TV.
