Hi All,

Well you were all right, I'm one VERY happy guy at the momment.... I've picked up my brand spanking new America this morning.

I'd not heard an America with the Off Road pipes on before mine so I was really pleased when they fired it up for the first time.... Just purrrrrfect...

I've only managed to rack up a few miles on it today as my wife is prettty ill at the momment as she's recoviering from an op, so it seemed a little unfair to go out cruising all day..... however...

Still the weather wasn't too forgicing either today, and I've now got mud all over it after being caught out in the rain on my maiden voyage!

Still the bike was rock steady, even if the rider wasn't - I havent ridden in a while but had a baptism of fire today when I went down a road that was closed only to find its' clsoed because of all the work going on - loads of thick mud on the road and I have to turn the bike around on a muddy steep road.... not fun, and I was panicing I was going to slip and end up on my arse. I didn't so all was good.

Anyway here is a pic as promised. Sorry its so rubbish but it was taken on my camera phone which is bad at the best of times...

Got loads of looks and the sound is "just" right for me.

The only fault I've found is the tacho doesn't work, so I'll take it back in when I get 5 mins - no real hassle now as I'm keeping it pretty steady anyway.

Cheers,

JC

Congrats!
Well at least your bike is officially "baptized"
Here's to thousands of trouble free miles. I hope your wife is feeling better soon so you can "go your own way" with her on the back!

Well done John. May you have many happy miles on it. The forcast for UK at present is crap so take care if you venture out. This is what your like I bet when your riding

Don't know where those three characters after .jpg came from but that is why the pic did not show. Here's what it should have been:

Ah, that explains why you stopped riding long enough to take a picture...

Bloody hard to just stop, get off and go in the house isn't it? When I first got mine, I had to drag my toe on the street a couple of times just to make sure it was real, I wasn't used to bikes that ride so nicely.

Chance are good that they just missed plugging the tach in during dealer setup, so it probably is nothing earthshaking.

Wife just asked me to go and get her a thermometer, so I saw my chance and even though the chemists is only 1 mile away it took me another 8 miles to do it...;)

I'm already starting to get used to the handling and it's just sublime - as I say I've not been on a bike for a while and I'm finding my feet again so to speak, but it's just so smooth.

I'm taking it steady at the momment until the first service, but even so.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Roll on the good times!

Cheers,

JC

And you were even caring for your wife! Multi-tasking is good! Didn't I just hear her ask you to go out and get some juice?

Nice Bike John, good choice on colour.
Pick mine up Friday so this has really made me jealous.

Guess the wife will get anything she wants now... Funny mine keeps telling me I'm picking up the new kitchen on Friday!... Must get some ear plugs.

Definately a good choice in colour...

And it's funny....you are not the only one that a mile journey can stretch to 6 or 7 miles... or 100 mile round trip just to buy a pair of jeans (that becomes 2 pairs and a cordless drill - don't ask. Would have been cheaper to go into town and buy a really expensive pair...).

Just ride it in the rain. Ok so it gets dirty, but you really appreciate how well it clings to the ground. Even better with Metzeler tyres on.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Maybe you should have picked up some 7-up, chicken soup and other supplies and added another 20 miles to the trip. Congratulations on you new bike and welcome to the site!

Nice looking bike sir.

Hope your wife gets well soon.

Might i suggest you pop down the road and get her some flowers.....then...pop down the road and get her some chockies...then...pop down the road and get her a get well card.

Man, do all this and you will officially be a very caring husband.
