Just wonderin' if anyone has tried the Dunstall Replicas. They're inexpensive and look good. I'd like to know how they sound(?)

Somebody here had them on at one time. I remember seeing the pics. They looked good, but I can't remember who had them. Sorry.

Hi Dan,
As far as sound goes, we'd need to ask "lawn" like "cat" referred to in the PEASHOOTER thread. If they are anything like the old ones, I'd love the sound - relatively quiet, but very deep tone. They made all my parallel twins sound great. Even my '74 Yamaha 650 sounded like a dream. I also believe the originals were glass packed, since they mellowed and got a little louder with miles. I would have already tried these if I wasn't so indecisive. I know I need a haircut, but that comes on a decision also.

Hey Dan,
You helped me make a decision - I'm getting my FlowBee out, hooking it to my Rainbow tonight and cutting my hair.
Also, You're in Oregon and I'm in Alabama. If we both get the Dunstall copies, we can meet in western Nebraska so we can compare exhaust notes in stereo.
I am seriously considering buying 60" of 1-7/8" stainless exhaust pipe, and 40" of 2-1/2" stainless, cutting them in half and slip the 2.5" over the smaller pipe after I fill the end of the 2.5" with scrap SS tubing of small various sizes. Welding some SS keystock onto the outside of the 1-7/8" as support for the 2.5". Then weld the bundle of tubing together at the end of the larger pipe and slash cut it. Then a nice polish to all of it would be in order. The spacers would allow me to insert the smaller pipe into the larger pipe and create a venturi keeping the larger end cool, and I could adjust the length of overall setup. Of course an "unremovable" baffle would be welded into the smaller pipe.
Just a thought - but serious!
Ride Safe,
Dennis

No I don't have Dunstalls, the last set I had were on a 74 850 Norton. As a matter of fact I don't have a Speedy anymore and the pipes on it were D & D's. I'm riding a 05 T 100 at present.
