Triumph's service manual says to discard the bolts and use new ones after taking off shock absorbers. The Hanes manual doesn't mention this. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Had mine off and on 6 or 7 times. Always re-used the stock bolts.

They say the same about the brake rotor bolts. That is mainly because the replacement bolts come with preapplied locktite and Triumph wants to cover there posterior. In all cases you must disconnect the bat'try first too!

Use some blue locktite and go for it.

don't bother replacing. I never have when lowering bikes. But as Moe said be sure to disconnect the battery!

Thanks. I actually couldn't get the left shock absorber off the bike. The bolt came out fine, but that puppy doesn't want to release and it seems that inner rubber bushing is starting to release from the shock mount as I tug at it. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks again.

Had the same problem with my right shocker..a good soaking in penetrating oil and a bit of a twist released it.. might want to put a smear of grease on the mounting lug when refitting.

I had that problem on the stud on the lower end of Wendys right shock. Destroyed the bushing and got the steel sleeve off by putting a chisel blade in the seam of the sleeve and hitting it at an angle to both spread the seam and turn it at the same time. Wasn't fun but did the trick when nothing else did. I did try everything I could short of heat before I did that.

Thanks. I gave up trying to pull one of them b/c I was able to get the air box out with just one bolt detached. It seemed like I was about to destroy the bushing. Tomorrow's problem I guess.
