Thought I would post some figures for people to look into if they are thinking of the 19t sprocket. I have recently fitted one and think that it has made a fantastic difference. For instance if you gun it in 2nd it will fly up to 55mph(not redlining it) 3rd up to 75mph and so on. But the best bit is cruising. At 60mph it is only doing 3K revs and at 80mph 4K.Looking forward to getting it on the motorway to see what it does at 90mph. Its like you have another gear that I was always looking for before I fitted it.Old one was a 17t. Best thing I ever did to my bike..I love it.
Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?

A few of us like the 19t most say its too much and use the 18t. Personally I will never go back from a 19t.

I've run a 19T for over 2 years. Of course, I don't puts around town or drag light to light either. Great for going long distances in a short period of time.

I run my bike, with a 17 tooth front sprocket, up to 30 in first, 60 in second, and 80 in third gear, before hitting the RPM limiter. I mark the speedometer with a blue felt pen (usually once per month) to see these points clearly.

Hi Troutman. Can you redline it in 4th? What bike do you have? I have an 865 Speedmaster and it came with a 18 tooth stock and have just fitted a 19. I have not had a chance to wind it out yet but it feels ok around town 1 up so far.

I don't know whether it redlines in 4th...I have only just fitted a rev counter anyway.Mine is 790 BA. Certainly in 3rd I have had it up to about 6500 and its flying. I think people need to be reminded these bikes were not designed as rocket machines for pulling 6g's they are stylish retro cruisers to be ridden in a different way...thats why I got the 19t.
Regards
Steve

Red line/rev limiter to me is the same thing. My thoughts are if you cant get there in 4th gear you are obviously over geared.

Well, I got curious about your question SpeedyKiwi. If you zip out 3rd to 7k and snap it to 4th you can red line 4th at around 118MPH on the Triumphometer so its probably about 110MPH then when you hit 5th it pulls very hard like 3rd to 4th would feel. It pulls very well in 5th then the test driver decides to keep his license so he lets off at 6800 RPMs.

It is unlikely the bike has enough HP to pull to red line with that much wind resistance in 5th gear at 135ish. I won't find out, I suffered from outtacourageitis past 120 on the Triumphometer.

Personally I don't think its over geared with a 19t. I would rather have big roll on speed than hole shot, but then again I drive mostly straight lines. If I lived in the mountains like Salmaglie and some others I would drop it down.

Then again the 19t kept up pretty good in Arizona at the Triumph fest.

I was gonna mention that Ron .

I'm running the 16T, which I like for the low end grunt and pulling out of curves, but you were right there the whole time.
Of course, I have a little more GVW than you do .
