Hi Guys, Picked up my 06 America yesterday. Only disapointment is the size of the 11 litre panniers. Can anybody recomend something larger? Also, does anybody have any pictures to show how they strap rucksacks onto the rack behind the sissy bar? TIA, p.s. pictures of my new bike to follow, when it stops raining in the UK

I have these K-Drive saddlebags - thoroughly recommend them. Very large capacity, fit perfectly, can be unlocked and removed from the bike in seconds leaving a very discrete mounting rack. You can get them from NewSpeedmaster.

Hi. Another Brit!!! Welcome. Bags...yes the Triumph Panniers are really that small. Bags simular to the ones Matt mentions above are available from Custom Cruisers are the price you pay...no hidden customs to pay on arrival... I'm not anything to do with them, but have serious objections to paying Customs on stuff I haven't even seen...  The bag on the rack thing. I have one from here at Jafrum and even after paying the highwayman (read Customs) it was a bargain. They don't do the one I have anymore, but I used that every day for work and used to hammer it beyond what it was designed for. They also do throw over panniers but I have no experience of what they are like. You'd also need to get a set of rails if you got some. Pics of the bike. Yes we will need to see them.

I second rhe K-drive. Those Triumph Panniers are cheaply made, overpriced and simply dont carry enough other than to make them at best barely capable of daily needs.
I bought mine as an accessory at the time I got the bike and that was a mistake hindsight being 20 20.

Always looked tiny to me. I have to be able to get a jacket w/pads in each side, less is not very useful. I love the K-drives, but they are money. I went with Large Saddleman Drifter bags. So far, they have made it through three seasons. If they go, I'll probably get the Jumbo size next time around. Tough to beat for less than $150. Plus the Saddleman buckles are the only ones I've seen that you can put on a little padlock.

I guess I should also say I have a pair... I can get enough clothes in one side to last a weekend.....but that is all. The other side I normally fill with junk...

This is something else I would find desirable in my panniers.

I really like my Triumph slant panniers. But, I bought them to basically carry the stuff I want to stay with the bike all the time and I still have plenty of room for around town stuff. I use different bags for traveling that I carry off the bike with me.

SSJones, how do you have the Saddleman Drifter bags attatched? Are you using easy brackets?

No, I'm too cheap! I bought a set of used Honda Magna brackets from a fellow BA.com member. I hard-mounted the bags to the bracket using come cable clamps and stainless fasteners/fender washers from Lowes. Two up top, using the Saddleman grommets. One below with a hole I drilled. Fender washer on each side and stainless nylon lock nut inside. Works great. Hope the pix make sense, they were taken before I added the larger fender washers on each side of the bag.

Check out bb Reproductions: http://www.bbreproductions.com/bags.htmI have the Black Saddlebags featuring double speed comets & studs. They come to about $700 with brackets. They are hard 50s reproductions with plenty of room. They look like they were made to fit the BA. I can get chaps, riding jacket and a few other things in 1 side. It also holds a 12-pack of 12 oz beer cans in a soft sided cooler. They look great and get a lot of attention. The photos on their web site include a Speeedmaster.
