OK, I've ALMOST cured the popping from my TOR Shorties. Enough that I'm OK with it and will not be worrying about it anymore. Here's what I've done:

AI removed
Right idle mix screw 3 1/2 turns
Left idle mix screw 4 1/2 turns
Carbs linked at the vacume ports
No other mods.

The Rt/Left idle screws are different because the left was running leaner. I can feel no adverse effects from this combination at various speeds. Someday when I get the time I'll make a carb vacume balance guage and balance the carbs, but for now...I'm done

My Triumph Shorties don't really pop it's more of a burble during run down. I'm running the Freak rejetted at 145/45, a single shim and happy with it all. It dynos and runs nicely.

I have the same burbling on my 2004 SM, with the Chrome Sliencers.
No rejetting, and I have not removed the AI or done other (performance)mods, except from changing the silencers.

An occational loud pop when turning the ignition off, but that's all.

Not sure if the burble is a bad thing or a good thing... It sounds almost like blowing bubbles under water. I'll probably have my dealer look at it on the next service (in a few months) unless someone here screams up and tells me this is really dangerous and should be fixed imediately.
