Does anyone know the size of the Hex nut for the front axle of the Speedmaster, seeing as my speedo has stopped working again I thought I would try and get the front axle out.

A 5/8" sparkplug wrench, flipped around fits in the left side (or maybe the other..) The opposite is a 12 mm hex key. Be careful tightening that speedo cable screw, you will break the housing very easily, I did.

You being in Australia and all, another way to do to the 19mm side is to get a bolt and nut setup. I don't know the metric equivalent of this Tech Vault piece:
"Take a 1/2"X 1 1/2" or thereabouts bolt, thread a couple of nuts on, tighten them really tight, (use some red locktight if you like), and you have an axle tool to use with a 3/4" socket. 1/2" bolt works because 3/4" and 19mm are so close, there's really no difference."
Maybe a 13mm nut will be 19mm OD? I'm sure there's something along those lines you could use. Anyway, cheaper than buying a 19mm hex head socket or allen wrench, even if you could find one.

Great idea!! Heck you can make a bunch and sell em to your buddies I did the bolt head thing Derek describes. I just went to the HW store and measured some bolt heads on the little rulers they have in the bolt section. Then got two nuts, one of which is a flange head so the socket stays on that outer nut and sits straight. Works great.

Im sorry Mark but I just have to make comment on you bragging you loan tools from your Mechanic from your work and don’t return them. Most guys that I know and ride bikes mean what they say and say what they mean. TAKE THE DAM TOOLS BACK.

haha...no worries, he just likes bugging me. I offered to give them back, but he just said to wait till I get the wheels back on (the 19mm has never been used before me).

I bought the 12mm hex key for about $10 on Ebay. Didn't look for a 19mm.
Just realized I have about 12k miles on my front Metzler ME880. I only got 8k on the OEM Bridgestone. Looks like I have this year and maybe next on the Metzler.
