Beep, beep or HONK, HONK! OK, I am not talking about pipes but horns. I have never liked the sound of the stock horn and after needing to use it 5 times today I decided to go visit my friend that now works at the harley parts counter. The stock harley horn (made in India) has the HONK that sounds 100% better then the beep. This was also done for the fun of giving my harley buddies a hard time.

Ya know Tod, I too have never particularly cared for my BA's stock horn. So I may just have to look into getting one of those Harley horns too.
Could you download a picture of it, please.
(Yes, REALLY!!! I might consider this, folks!....but here comes the joke anyway......)
However, seldomly ever hearing one used out of the road, I always just took for granted that those Harley horns didn't make that "HONK, HONK" sound, but in fact made that "BEEP, BEEP" sound...seein' as how that rhymes with "SHEEP, SHEEP"!!!
(PLEASE EVERYBODY...Let's not sidetrack THIS one of Tod's anymore, OKAY???!!!...IT WAS JUST A JOKE!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Good boy, Geoff!! Good boy!!! I'm "proud as punch" that you have shown such restraint here! (HOW do you do THAT, ANYWAY???)

Restraint not needed: Usable jokes much appriciated. In fact the demo of the horn was from a model on the showroom floor. Here is a photo of the "made in India" harley horne that goes Honk-Honk (similiar to Sheep-sheep). Part #69060-90E

I know a guy that has a set of big rig air horn in the saddle bags of his Electric Glide. Very loud. Problem is that it get's peoples attention, but they are looking for a truck not a bike.

I've got one thing to say to you... "stebel nautilus compact horn". The single most attention getting horn that's just begs to be bike mounted. Several of us on here have them. The fit in neatly in the standard horn location. You can buy them from here, and you can hear them here.

The large American cars of the 60s & 70s often had ample horns, although many junk yards aren't holding on to cars of that era anymore. Might be worth a look see.
Another vote for the Stebel air horn. Next to the big foot for the kickstand I got from Brent, the Stebel is my favorite little add on. It holds a tiny air compressor that winds up and makes for a mighty blow when the horn button is depressed. It's saved my bacon twice now when I was in the blind spot on a multi-laned highway. I wonder if I'd still be here with the factory "meep-meep." My only complaint is it could be a bit more discordant, to make for that head throbbing instance when a tone is off by around 3/4s of a step and the two sound waves battle each other, but all in all, it gets the job done.
As a born and bred hard core Swamp Yankee, (who to this day, still lives in a Yankee Swamp, 30 feet from my door) I pretty much save anything and everything, including old cardboard boxes. (These practices may well be as a result of too many Equine Encephalitis carrying mosquito bites - not sure.) I did not, however, save the factory horn. I introduced it to the waste stream, in hopes that it would never see the light of day again. It occurs to me now that the factory horn should have been executed under the toothed-claw of an ample backhoe, with video documentation of the same. Maybe someone can donate a stock horn for this purpose. We could send the video to Triumph as a "hint."
I think the Triumph engineer who tuned the stock pipes spec'd the stock horn as well - Edward J. Shooshington - E. J. for short.

Dwight, it is just a joke and in good fun, that is why I went with this horn - to let my harley friends know that the only part of their bike I found usable was the horn. I would also agree that the Stebel is a great product and one day I may try one. But for now I believe this one gives out a much better sound then stock and will get attention when needed.

Thanks for the pic, Tod. Not bad! Any idea of the db level on it?

Just go to your nearest auto parts store (O'Reilly's, Advantage, Auto Zone, etc...) and buy a car replacement horn for approx. $14 USD. They bolt up right where the stock horn is and do the job. After I replaced mine, I went for a ride and came up next to a car who thought he was going to come over in my lane when I was still there. I let loose with a quick blast, and his head jerked around like I'd stung him. The look on his face was priceless.
