If you guys with the broken guards would file a complaint with the DOT, they may force Triumph to do a recall. It's worth a shot.

I think its definitely worth a shot, considering the number of broken chain guards I've seen here and how dangerous this can be.

You can file a complaint here:

Just an update on the rebuild...sheesh. First, thanks to all for the well wishes and support, great bunch of folks on here for sure. I appreciate it.

The fender is at Deep South...$409.00. The new Rear ME880 and tube is awaiting install $240.00. New/used chain guard is ready $15.00.....The jury is still out on the chain. I cleaned it well with Kerosene and will see how it adjust out when I put it all back together. I had just installed a new cush and it had 1/4" of slack after the guard jammed it up.....that trick about the leather is golden! Took all the slack out of the cush. That saved me about $70.00. I should have it back up and running sometime late next week. The real bummer, my custom paint will be forever gone and factory Cardinal red will be in its place.

Too sum up (without custom re-paint) I am at $665.00 with me doing the labor. If the chain is stretched beyond adjusting that will take it to $815.00....add the paint at $1000.00 for a grand total of $1815.00 to get back to pre chain guard incident(with labor, who knows what that would be)....that was one expensive chrome doo-dad!

I got a rough quote on a re-paint, custom guesstimated at around $1000-$1500.....that will be a long way off.

At least I will be back on my america....I cannot tell you how much I miss riding her....even with all the $$$ out of pocket. This is the best motorcycle I have ever owned period!!
