I ran across this auction and it got me curious: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...bayphotohostingIt looks like an America, but with a SM serial number. i emailed the guy, since the title says American (yes, with an "N"), and this was his response: Quote:
Ok starfans, beings I have the pink and its reg. to me. I willing to try to convince you that its a SPEEDMASTER. any other questions please send via my e-mail and you'll get a faster answer. Harry

J&P has bars like that. They are readily available from mostly any Harley aftermarket supplier.

"Paid 12,000 reduced from 15,000."
That's insane. I've only seen a few TBAs that are worth anywhere near $12,000, maybe one or two worth $15,000 or more (for example, Carl Stephen's Speedmaster for Metric TV), and this doesn't rank in either category. I think $9,000 for a starting bit is pushing it. This bike isn't any more custom than mine (paint and accessories, some one-off) and I'd be shocked to get the original $7000 out of it.
Never mind that the origins/authenticity (calling an obvious TBA a Speedmaster and using a Speedy VIN), I wouldn't be surprised if it's got a salvage title and was cobbled together from a couple bikes.
I should let it go but its bugging me. Caveat emptor!

I agree 100% I saw that $12,000 down from $15,000 myself and laughed. I also didn't think it was worth the $9,000 asked but hye, it's Ebay and a sucker born every minute. I would think maybe around $6,000 give or take. It isn't anything special.

The bars look very much like those that come on the HD Night Train.
