As I get closer to heading overseas and riding season comes to an end I've been trying to get a few clicks in. Last
weekend my bud Stu and his brother Ward, another top human, decided to visit some friends in Narrogin.

Unlike you Brits and Yanks or for that matter guys over on the east coast, Western Australia is really spread out so places of interest are few and far between.

Narrogin is 200km SE of Perth, being a commercial centre for the wheatbelt. We headed out along the Brookton Hwy, a well maintained single lane deal with plenty of curves..just right for the speedy. We received intel from Narrogin that the Police were targeting speeding and drink driving ,when aren't they; so we were on our best behaviour...sort of

Dam it was cold, about 15C...yeah yeah I know you guys in the UK and US are hard but man we live in paradise so cold weather is more of a novelty than a season.

So onto the pics, we ride into Brookton at the 130k mark of the ride. The pub has always been the focal point of community interaction in these towns so when you make a comfort stop the pubs the place to be. The first pics taken outside the Bedford Arms in Brookton. I dig this pic, three bikes outside a pub, Aussie flag flying. The red one is Stu's Road King...dam H-D with cruise control. The H-D in the foreground is Wards Deluxe Softail. This is another of these bikes purchased by a yuppie, modded then kept in a shed and eventually sold to make way for a people mover. This one has V&H pipes...real loud. If I was going the H-D the Deluxe would be high on my list. What disappoints me is finish. Not the paint or the chrome cause as far as Harleys go the deluxe is pretty sweet. What I mean is things like pre war style finish of the fixings...zinc! come on. All that coin and the nuts and bolts look like they come out of a hardware store not an aircraft factory. Obviously the black Speedy is mine, lowered rear shocks, bobbed fender and Kuryakyn indicators...pipes and freak coming soon

But I digress. We enter the pub and ask for a feed, the publican demands 10 bucks each and tells his mate to fire up the deep fryer. One beer later and he returns with what I will call food. I'm sure that at some time it was fish but its hard to tell when its been deep fried. Still, when your cold you tend not to worry about things like heart disease.

Anyhow onto the next pic. The clown mugging it in the middle is me and the girls are Irish backpackers working they're way around OZ. You can tell which one was my favourite...I dig potatoes.

Well thats about it guys, Narrogin was characterised by a box of beer and a bottle of Turkey followed by a stagger back to the motel. Didn't see much in Narrogin but then again there's not much to see. Its good to catch up with friends and tell a few stories but as always the journey is better than the destination

...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

Nice write, Keets. Thanks for sharing. You're right 15c ain't cold in the real world. You'll need to toughen up a bit. Sorry you got some nasty fish - But the potatoes do look lovely.
