I finally took my bike in to the dealer for the well overdue 6K checkup. I had been doing maintenance like oil  changes, etc but the idle was off and I couldn't get it right. Anyway, the 6K checkup is $200 and additionally they changed all the brake pads, bled the lines and set the idle for $42.27 which I didn't think was too bad. Lone Star Triumph/BMW has won a lot of awards from Texas rider mags for service so I guess they deserve them.

Mine are nearly shot now... at 3330. It's booked in on Monday to have them done. That and have the front rotor looked at.... That's why I'm using the back brake more.....

Just had my 6000 mile last thursday, back pads 2/3 worn. cost me £272 but did have a new back tyre and tube as well, so not to bad.

Triumph has had some issues with the front rotors. I've done 3 for customers, and one on my own bike because of warpage.
The good news is, the replacment rotor is redesigned a tiny bit, and I haven't had any issues with any of the bikes I've changed them out on. Of course, Triumph won't just give them away, and have to be out of spec.......

I'm relatively lucky, as my dealer believes that if I say something is wrong it is... I may not know what but something is... With this it's definately warped. It's like riding a kangaroo when I use the front brake.
But I have one question... when was it re-designed?? I've only had the bike since mid Nov, and I know it was on the sales floor for a couple of months before I got him.

Mine goes back into Hinckley for warped disc on the 19th of this month, they seem to suspect that the suspension is wrong for some reason, but why does it stop when they replace the disc 
Three years on and the fourth rotor/disc, and on the second front wheel..

Oh, I don't doubt it being warped. If memmory serves me, it was about 4 or 5 months ago when I did the last one. I was told that the new discs are a little thicker and less apt to warp.

Wow, I haven't heard of anybody with such an on going problem. Cool that their covering it for ya. They need to get Chris Willis involved in this if he isn't already.

I'm on my fourth disc also. Have bought the EBC Pro-lite floating disc for next replacement but not yet got round to changing it. Hoping this'll solve the problem as they say 'eliminates rotor distortion'. Would be very interesting to hear what Triumph find about the cause...

I would also be interested in the EBC units, did you get them in the UK?
I was touring at the end of April and throughout May and following 2 days of riding in the rain, my front discs started "pulsing".
I wonder if ther is a link there somewhere (rain etc.). Especially as it seems you folks in the UK seem to be affected more, starting from Adey's problems, as I recall.

Is a brake job on a bike like on a car in regards to having the disc turned or does it just get repalced?

The minimum thickness is stamped into the rotor. As long as you can clean it up without cutting it below the minimum, you can turn them down Chances are that a warped rotor can't be saved.

I ordered them from here Thanassis. The floating disc plus set of sintered pads. Hoping it cures the problem but would be happier to know the cause...Not sure about damp though. I thought that at one point, but current disc had first signs of warping after only 2000 mile, just after Asendorf in fact and as you know there wasn't one spot of rain! 
It's strange... Think last I heard Adey was on to his sixth disc. Ray's had four and two wheel replacements also as a possible cause. Be interesting to hear the results of Ray's factory inspection...

i changed my front pads and went with the floating rotor on my america at 17,000 miles. i did not have to change the rotor but figure i upgrade. i would like to know the cause also becase i had 17,000 trouble free miles out of mine
