Ok i have a fun idea. I want to make fire come out my exhaust like in the movies.. I think it would be cool. So I need help with my idea. I want to weld a 1/2" pipe 3" inches long to the inside of the muffelers right under the eng by the "break" where your muffelers connect to your headers right before the cross piece. then I want to cap then off and add spark plugs and "jets" to spray some kind of fule inside that 3" piece of pipe. Then use the sparkplug to light the fuel I will drill a hole in the exhaust about 1/4". This will allow the fule to stay in the 3" pipe until lighted. Then it should blow fire out into the exhaust and out the back... Right or wrong.. Anyone know how this is done? I attempted to draw a pic but I am no good at all.. Any ideas would be helpfull...

Well Evanman, you have now oficially crossed over into the "Totally Insane" group. That would be pretty cool! Sounds scarely familiar to the Darwin Award thread though. Maybe you'll make the list? A long time ago a friend of mine drilled tiny hole into his headers of his Ford Torino and made an small oil injector that he would use to inject vegetable oil into the headers while going down the road. It would make this huge unbelievable thick smoke cloud behind him. It was very handy for tailgaters. He got a very expensive ticket for it though after using it to try and outrun the cops. They didn't think it was too funny. He paid something like a $1000 fine for "Enforcement avoidence" equipment on his vehicle. Never heard of that one before that.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Thats a good idea 2!!! Maybe I can add them both. And hope no cops get behind me.. but if they do there is no way I can outrun them. I know all 33 of them in evanston personaly.
But I would still like to know how this is done...

Considering that is half the population of Evanston, I hope you know them in a good way

Seen em on cars, but our pipes are a little too short for my taste to be igniting fuel in them.

Yes it is about 1/2 of the population. At first it was to many speading tickets at 100+ mph in a 45. Then I got my TBA. Well I guess most of the cops are old and rode Triumph way back in there day. They think it is cool that a youngen' would ride a Triumph. So now I am in good graces with them! We will see what happens when they see my fire exhaust. If I can every make it work right.
My wife told me I was to short 2. But that does not stop me. I am 25 and working on my 3rd child!!.. I have allways lived on the very very edge.

Back when I was a kid they used to have cartoons called "Looney Tunes". I can almost hear the music in the background now.

Back in the 50's we used to install a spark plug in the tail pipe about 1 foot from the end and hook it to a magneto with a switch. We just let of the throttle and fliped the switch and the un burnt fuel in the pipe would look like a flame thrower...an un marked straight 8 Pontiac police car did not think it was funny one night in '54.

Thanks Larryshep! I was wondering if there would be enough fule in the exhaust to make flame. Didnt know if I needed to add more fule to the fire.

Using modern (more or less) parts, you can get a double ended Sportster coil to fire 2 sparkplugs at once. Many of the antique radio parts suppliers sell an electronic car radio vibrator that you can use to tickle the coil. Back off the throttle, maybe pull the choke a bit and hit the kill switch, and you can spout more flame than Old Faithful does water. Speaking of water, if you use that for Dinguas smoke screen, it is harder for them to give you a ticket. The 2 things you are allowed to discharge on the highways of the US from a moving vehicle are "plain" water and live chicken feathers.

I can't help but have a nagging feeling in my gut to tell you to plot out the quickest route to the nearest hospital....but then again something else tells me you may already know the way

Evanman,
When I was experimenting with different size pilot jets, I put some rather large ones in and she shot out 6" flames. However with those size pilots she ran like crap. Looked kind of cool, but bad performance....

When I put my off roads on I HAD to start it up with just the pipes (Yeah, like I'm the only one:-) I drove it up the street and back. I'm not sure if there were flames but with all that sound there should have been.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
