"Start the motor and be sure the bike is warm."to quote Pat's carb site.Warming the motor hasn't been a problem while trying to balance the carbs on my 2007 america. The problem is that it's getting bludey hot while I'm stuffing around.I'm using a homemade balancer with 2stroke oil in the tube.Trying to only adjust a micky hair at a time BUT first the LH is up' then tiny adjust & the RH side is up any suggestions
cheers Tommy

One is to set a couple fans blowing on the engine to help it cool while working. Balance can be tough to get exactly. if it is a very small difference it won't hurt anything but as close to perfect as possible is desired.

no. you have a continuous loop with oil at the low point so you don't have to check for a differential.

There's always going to be a small difference in balance. A neat way to correct it is to run a vacuum line between the two carbs, from the point where the AI used to connect to the same point on the other side.

Matt' are you saying I just cut a length of tubing & join both carbs & won't have to balance again? Even if I fiddle with the screw?

Nope. Connecting the two carbs together via the vacuum ports will smooth the idle a bit and as Matt said, will help alleviate any small difference in balance. Of course, this crossover would need to be removed when balancing.
Anytime/every time you touch the carbs, you should re-balance them for best power/efficiency.
