I plan to trailer my bike with friends and was planning to buy a Condor 1500 wheel chock like the ones they own. Anyone have any experience with them? Also, any recommended tie down locations on the bike would be helpful.

Whenever I have my bike in the truck I grab it with ratchet straps on the upper fork shrouds or the handlebars. Grab the left one loose to avoid overpulling while its on its stand then draw the right side down until the shocks compress about 20%. By this time you should have pulled the bike upright. Taking it apart take off the right strap and it sits back down on the kickstand.

To stop the rear from hopping around I simply strap down from the rear shocks. Thats overkill but makes me feel better.

If you bite it down like above you don't need a chock. They are nice though, have seen them in bike shows and they hold the bike like granite, one strap and you are on your way.

I have two of the Condor Pit Stop/Trailer Chocks in my trailer exactly like the one in the pic in your link. They are extremely well made, very heavy aluminum (1/4-5/16", I think), and they will definitely hold the bike while you tie her down. You would have to really work to tip the bike over while in the chock. You do have to adjust it to fit your tire properly. Do this on flat ground or in your garage.

I tie down to 4 points using those loop thingies. Two on either side in front around the triple tree. I remove the side cover and use another loop over the top of the top rear side cover tab. Last one is fed behind and above the fuse box cover. Each is attached to a 3000 pound strap and to floor mounted 5000 pound D-rings. I also made up a block out of 2 2x4s and a 1x4 just long enough to completely catch the frame underneath. I ratchet everything down evenly onto the block so I don't have to compress the springs/shocks much at all. Once down tight, absolutely nothing moves. It might be overkill with 4 straps but I will not rely on just the chock or a couple of straps. You hit a big bump or hole, something will move if not strapped down properly.

Nice thing about the chocks is I unbolt them from the trailer and use them in the garage too! I got mine for $195 apiece out the door at a local shop.

I appreciate the responses on the Condor. I feel like it makes the most sense as I plan to buy 1/4 of a 4 bike trailer and I also have two additional friends that have 2-bike trailers and ALL of them will have the Condor mounting plates installed. I will order the chock and a plate which will be installed on the 4-bike trailer.

I'll use the Condor in my garage for my bike when not trailering. I had planned to use 4 straps. I can see how 2 on the triple tree or upper front forks would work, but I wasn't sure how to do the two toward the back. I do have 4 of the loop things to keep the hooks away from the bike. Can you attach to the rear shocks or swing arms?

Don't get the mounting plate. Waste of money. There's 4 holes that you can mount through on the chock itself. The plate is if you want a quick dis-connect. I figured removing 4 bolts/nuts is quick enough for me!

I guess you could mount to the shocks, I wanted a frame grab. I believe the swing arm is too low to be able to use most ratcheting type straps (I would never use a cam type strap).

I just use the pull type straps on the rear and wrap them around the bottom strut of the shock to keep the bike from bouncing around. Personally I don't think you need to secure the back, I do it cause it makes me feel better
