Some silicone spray and a long skinny screwdriver or awl should loosen the hold the existing grips have, or just slice them off with a sharp knife. Roll back the rubber on the right grip near the mounting hardware to see what holds the right grip in place.
You may need to glue the left Kuryakyn on. The right side may not need glue. You'll see.
The plastic throttle sleeve is a might dainty, and doesn't like forces applied to it (ie: large hammer type implements) outside the realm of it's intended throttle on / throttle off duties.

To get the left grip off use a small screw driver and pry it up a little and use wd-40 and spray it in and work back and forth. You can use hairspray and put it back on. If you bought the set that already has the throttle sleeve in it you just undue the screws that hold the right throttle on. " First loosen the cable lines." Carefully take the cable gromets out of the sleeve and reverse to put back together

It should have come with simple instructions.
I cut the left grip off. I'm never going back to that thing anyway! I used some of the glue supplied to install the new one. No problem.
One of the trickiest things is to get the throttle cables set back right. It may take some tinkering. Make note of the marking on the handlebar where the housing halves meet. Be sure the cables don't get kinked.
You'll love the look and function of these grips. Did you get the throttle boss too? Good luck.

According to Kuryakyn, the proper model for our machine is the 6236. Does anyone know if that contains the throttle sleeve. I wish there were specific instructions for our specific bike. I have no problem following instructions, but if I get it apart and have to wing it mechanically, that scares me. I envision my right housing apart, a bunch of spaghetti, and not knowing how to proceed. Perhaps one of the many mechanically gifted on the forum could write a brief, specific instruction sheet for the right grip removal/install.

The right grip is KA6236, and the right grip will have the throttle sleeve already in it. It's not hard to install, I did it!

I'm working on getting my courage up - I finally did with the OEM tach, and it did turn out to be a piece of cake!

how do I remove the throttle housing? I removed the 3 philips screws and only one part came away from the bar. I guess a shop manual would help!

OK, got the throttle installed but there seems to be about 1/8"of play between the top of the throttle and the housing. I guess I need to loosen the housing and move it to the left a bit?
