Just noticed today that the back on the '07 Speedy isn't just black, it's black with some metalic in it. Looks really good.

Good eye Soren, my salesmen pointed that out to me recently too.

Hence 'Phantom' black!! And it is...beautiful. Flecks of blue and green and red an' other stuff. What? You think the enlightened were just buying a plain ol' black bike?!!

PS Keep this to yourself. Don't want the other forum members getting double-y jealous because, not only is black the fastest, it's also the prettiest!!!

Between the phantom black and the black wheels, it is almost tempting to upgrade to the '07.

It's not just the Speedmaster, the America looks great with the same phantom black. It will look even better after I get rid of some more chrome.

The only trouble with the wheels is that you can barely see em. The rear has the brake disc, chain sprocket and exhausts and the front has 2 huge discs of metal gettin' in the way.

I'm hoping that a set of brake discs I saw recently will fit. They were on a sports bike and there was very little to 'em. They'd look sweet on the Speedie.

Yeah, when I went to get my 07 Speedy I wanted black at first; but all they had was an 07 phantom black/ sunset red two-tone. They still had an 06 black speedy demo and I they had almost started to switch the tanks out for me before they realized the blacks were different!

Eventually, I changed my mind altogether and had them order me a mulberry red!

Triumph is using the PhantomBlack on 4 bikes this year. As you've discovered, the America, and also the Speedmaster, Rocket III, and the Sprint ST.

Real nice color. I've always liked it since Toyota started using it back in the mid 80's

I've always thought that the shorts look a bit too...short!!! I like the way the longs emphasise the length/lowness of the bike. Plus, I think the longs sound better.

(IMHO)

As a side-note, the long TORs are slightly shorter than stock. Not sure why you'd wanna know this but there ya go!!
