I've searched, but could not find a definitive statement. I'm curious as to what the rev limiter is set at for my '07 America. I saw mention in a thread that the Speedy was set at 8 grand, and someone thought that the America was 500 less. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Mine appears to be set at 7500 which I think is correct.

Looked it up in the shop manual. The 865 is set at 8000 and the 790 is set for 7400.

Thanks Bob. I guess then my '07 America with the 865 engine is probably set at 8000. I was amazed at how high these machines rev which I discovered when I installed my tach yesterday. I'm used to machines that operate a few K below the Bonny.

They really begin to pop at 5K, and pull hard right up to the rev limiter. If I'm in traffic I keep mine at 4K or above.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I have to get the feel for how I am riding this beauty now that I can see the engine speed. One thing I will undoubtedly solve is that I am endlessly trying to kick the beast up one higher gear - a gear that does not exist. At least I will know that I am in 5th now once I correlate the tach readings with road speed.

As an aside, I don't want to change the sprokect, because I am not prepared to give up low end performance.

In the 07, the Speedy and the AM should be the same. this year they share the same engine. Before 07, they were different.

What sort of engine speed does the America sit at at around 110km/h in top gear?

I've got a 17 tooth sprocket on the front, if I go to an 18 how much difference will that make?
