Hey John, a good friend of mine is a hospitalist PA there, maybe she can hand deliver something from us if we find out his name. PM it to me maybe? then we can hook it up. Thanks for being the mediator for us!!

OK...After getting over the shock I knew I had his surname somewhere. He wanted a 5p piece for something on the bike (which he was gonna let me see a pic of and hasn't) so I sent him one. He sent me a silver half dollar and a dvd....all for 5p. Really about 10cents...
Anyway it's Badrick. Or at least thats what I posted it to. I have his address too.
If I wasn't a full blown atheist, I'd say a prayer. As I am, I'll just be thinking of him. And carrying his silver dollar round all day.

I emailed my friend Terri who works there, haven't heard back from her yet (no surprise there), but I'll let you know if I do! Maybe we can get our card hand delivered She lives in Cheshire, maybe we can take our afternoon ride up that way.

UPDATE UPDATE Great News !!!! I just spoke with Jack and he is alive and kicking and wanted me to tell everyone how much he appreciates your thoughts and well wishes. Condition Update: Skull Fracture, 6 broken ribs broken collar bone and lots of road rash. he does not remember the accident only leaving the gas station and then waking up on the Life Star Helicopter. What happened ?? He went up to gas station to fuel up for the ride 1\4 mile from his house (short ride no helmet or jacket) always wears a helmet except for this one time. That is all he remembers. A lady called the police and reported what happen but will not come forward, someone pulled out in front of Jack and he laid it down to avoid hitting the car the car never stopped and keep going. He does not know how long he will be the hospital day to day according to his doctors. They are concerned with the head injure and lack of memory and with the broken ribs he can not move without pain right now, will take time to heal up from these injuries. Jack Badrick Hartford Hospital 80 Seymour St Hartford, CT 06115 Room 922860-545-5000 Gina and Phil thanks for helping me find out his last name. Edited: Per Big_Poppy the room is 922 Not 945 as previously reported herein.

Hope Jack makes a full and speedy recovery.
It's a shame that people can't stop and at least see that a badly injured person is cared for, much less take responsibility if they're at fault. Seems to be more and more common these days. And as much as I hate cell phones, this is where they can be lifesavers.

I am glad you are keeping us posted. It never ceases to amaze me that someone could do that and not stop. My brother in law totaled his truck a few days ago due to a guy on the wrong side of the road. That guy never stopped either. He was just banged up and bruised but the other guy didn't know that.
I hope that lady comes forward so something can be done if Jack wants to. Not sur how that works if they didn't actually collide. Poppy do you know what he actually hit after he laid it down? Or did his head hit the road?
Anyway , I hope to get out and get a card as well.

Dog,
The bike ended up on its side right at the center line so Jack was in his lane when whatever happened happened, his head hit the pavement.
According to the police there was nothing else at the accident scene except for Jack and his bike, when they got there. He did not run over anything or hit anything.

I've seen local TV stations that pick up stories like this and urge the public to come forward with information. I don't know your area, but it's a thought.

John, I can't find this bit in the thread, but do we know if his wife was with him? I would be glad to contact her on our behalf. Please let me know. I'm sure she needs support as well.

You're right, Reverend. A "sobering thought"...that should NEVER be forgotten while out there, as you likely know.

Stupid thought occurs to me, but in that "T-bone the car or put it down" split second decision, if you T-bone the car at least it isn't going to be able to drive away. Still, Jack probably made the right call given his circumstances - may have saved his life... Best wishes... Was just reading another thread "Sportster down" under the "Other bikes" heading. Oneijack posted on the 19th "Just goes to show ya even if you are just running to the store for a pack of smokes...stuff can happen." Freaky or what?!
