Hi all!!

Just went in and did the deal and paid my deposit!

Bike is being delivered on the 13th June all being well.

So excited as its actually REAL now, and I have the recipt in my pocket that I keep getting out to check too.

When I went to the dealer the demo bike I rode the other week was outside alongside a Yam, and a Suzi, and I just looked and KNEW It was completely the right descission.

So, the spec I've ordered is as follows :

Brand Spanking New Bonnie America - BLACK.

- Long TOR slash cut exhausts.
- Tall Sissy bar
- Slanted Paniers
- Tacho
- Alarm
- Triumph Dust cover

They did me a pretty good deal I thought. I also decided to buy a load of new leather too, - All triumph stuff, JAcket, trousers etc and they gave me a discount off that too.

All in all around £450 off RRP, which I thought was pretty good.

Roll on 13th June!!!

Oh, and I'm currently sitting here in my new leathers and boots - breaking them in.

Can't wait to post a pic up of it once its delivered.

Cheers,

JC
P.S. did I mention I'm EXCITED!!!!!!

beautiful choice in rides sir (black americas ARE the fastest) . i believe it is in the aup/forum rules etc that whilst using this forum you must be wearing your triumph leathers ,although helmets are not mandatory ,but that could be a country/state issue .and stop playing with the reciept you,ll wear it out . enjoy

Congrats!!

I can relate to your excitement. I bought mine used and had it shipped across the Country and I was counting the seconds until it got here. Don't think I've been off it since!

The 13th? That doesn't give you much time to get ready! Get out your maps right now and start planning the longest possible route home, you'll be glad you did because it's bloody difficult to force yourself to stop riding.

Thanks all for the comments! - Funnily enough - I'm just as excited still!!

Sadly its only 150yds from the dealers to my house, still I'm sure I can turn it into a long drive back.

Looking forward to posting up pics once I've got it.

Cheers,

JC

Brilliant John.Youll love it as soon as you hold those bars for the first time and realise youre the owner.A word of warning though.if the delivery date gets extended beyond the 13th youll want to go round to the dealer and rip his head off then put it through a mincer.lol.mines was a couple of days late and thats how i felt, even now i havent forgiven them.

You really have no idea what you've let yourself in for, do you, JC?! :> I've not stopped grinning since I got mine about 5 weeks ago and the amount of people who turn+stare as I ride past, or who ask questions whenever I stop the thing, is unreal; it's sometimes quite embarrassing. :>
Have you heard the TORS or just the stock pipes? If the latter, you're in for a treat when you thumb that little button for the first time!!! ]:>

Nice one...and welcome.

Actually JC, I did some digging, and under an antiquated but still enforced MOT Regulation, Paragraph 5, Subparagraph B, Clause a2, of the Act to Prevent Invasion by the Hun, initially put in place in the summer of 1940 (it was thought that since Germans love to follow orders, they would immediately obey this one and thus never reach London with the invasion forces), I quote, "Upon operating a Motorised Vehicle for the first time anywhere upon English soil, God Save the Queen and the Empire, said Operator must, at a minimum, travel for no fewer than 50 miles, in each Direction as indicated by the compass. If aforementioned travel falls on a day of the week beginning with the letters, "T", "W", "F" or "S", said Operator must further travel an additional 50 miles in the general area of the first town encountered, or if no acceptable pubs are located in the first village, then the next possible village is acceptable" Better get cracking sir, you've got a lot of riding to do.

I see Greg here has already advised you of that little known "Blitz Law" that for some inexpliciable reason was never repealed after the hostilities ceased, JC.

And so, just an additional word of warning will be required here, sir....

As Neill has noted above, be on he ready for all those ENGLISHMEN(and englishwomen) who will BLITZ you with question after question about that shiny new Triumph of yours.(and trust me, it goes on and on YEARS later after your initial purchase, also)

So, until the thirteenth of next month rolls around, you're "Home Guard" duty will be to read up on the hallowed history of this marque, so as when all those admiring comments and the sure to follow questions regarding your motorcycle's heritage are put to you, you'll be prepared with all the answers.

(sorry...it's just one of the "responsibilities" you'll find will be thrust upon you as you ride that puppy around Ol' Blighty...It's the same over here for us Yanks TOO ya know, Dude)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Greg, Dwight,

You're both bonkers......

But JC, you have time to prepare for the "are they still making those" questions that you WILL get... and if you want extra homework can you find out about the Triumph 3HW. Extra points if you can find out how many are still about.

You are soon to be a happy man. Wish you could have gotten a Cardinal Red one like mine, but Triumph reserves that color for their fastest bikes. You're gonna be sooo happy!

Thanks all,

I'm happy to report I'm more excited now... its under 2 weeks now!!!

I've already decided that I shall be out for the entire day. I think the plan will be, pick it up - take it home, and just admire it for a while, and try and calm myself a bit - have a cuppa (for the American guys, that an infusion in hot water of leaves from the tea plant, brewed for a few mins with a small portion of milk.....no, it's not like coffee! )

Then I'll be off for the day. I'm already scopeing out places to go that are quiet. I want to get comfrotable with the bike so I can start enjoying it.

As for the TOR's, nope, never heard them before!! So I'm really looking forward to it. When I had the test drive I knew the standard ones were not going to cut the mustard. It's like a rottweiler mewing like a kitten! The look doesn't match the noise!:)

I'll definately get some pics on the day I get it and post them up. I may even submit ones with me in my new shiny leathers too. wooo!

Hopefully get to meet some of the other UK riders too at some point.

Thanks again,

JC

BLACK , as we all know, absorbs the most light (that is, ALL light) therefore, the more light, the lighter it is. Lighter, and with all things being equal, that is, having the same power, is faster. Ergo, BLACK bikes are the fasterest. And the besterest.* The defense rests, m'lud.

*This last bit aint been scientifickly proven, it just is. Deal wiv it.

HAA! I can discredit this obvious falsehood of a "theory" without even tryin', Neill!!!

You said black ones "absorb the most light", right?!

In THAT case, they have to carry around MORE WEIGHT, which would NATURALLY slow 'em down then, RIGHT?!

(I'm surprised you didn't think of this, dude!)

Plus, if we're going to get into cosmic equivilents, the biggest SUCK in the universe is a blackhole... ergo black sucks the most...
now THAT is sure to cause a cosmic storm for sure

That'd be the best-selling aftermarket part ever!!! A black-hole-creation device (with bar-mounted switch). You could have, say, a twin headlamp setup (ala Speed Trip), one being the headlamp, the other, a mini black hole. Someone in your way? Hit the switch-problem solved. Some pist you off? Hit the switch-b'bye, ******!!!

I'm sure no-one would complain about having to pay even Triumphs aftermarket part prices for that!!!

Well the bike is at the dealers and has been for a few days. I found this out when I phoned them to let them to check - sadly I didn't realise otherwise I would have gone down and had a look.

So tomorrow was supposed to be the big day, however as things have worked out I'm not going home until next week now!!!

Which means I probably wont go and pick it up until next Friday... It's gutting knowing its sat there just waiting for me. Grrrrr, never mind. Just prepare yourselves for a barrage of pics next weekend.

I'll update next week. REALLY can't wait now!!

Cheers,

JC
