Seems to me that most folks are paying close to full retail for thier Americas they buy new. I.e. 8100 for the two tone paint model. They may be getting extra stuff thrown in or save on dealer prep. The dealer that I visited didn't even offer any incentives when we talked. In fact he said that, because my bike was slightly "upside down" that the finance company they used would probably finance up to 20% above msrp? Are these bikes so hot that dealers just don't need to make deals or is the normally more negotiating that can be done.....in you'alls opinion?

Many dealers, from what I understand, sell these bikes like hotcakes and don't feel the need to deal. The dealer in Missoula, MT, where I got my bike, is one of those dealers. For full MSRP I got a hat with the bike. That's it.

Check the dealer in Chattanooga, TN. He always seems to be the cheapest. Also, sometimes new ones are listed on eBay. Of course, then you have to take it to the local dealer for any service and sometimes that causes a chilly start to the relationship. You might consider a used America. Often you can get one for $4-5K with all or most of the desirable mods already done. As well as these bikes are holding up, you aren’t out anything in the reliability department.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Thanks Ladisney but I'm too far from them down here in southeast florida. Unfortunately (or not) I like the 07 with it's larger engine.

From what I understand, the dealers don't really make much of anything off the bikes, so, they don't have much (if any) room to make deals. What they make money off of and will usually bargin on (when buying a new bike) is on accessories.

I bought a '07 with 625 miles that the guy had just listed in Cycle Trader On-line. I'm in St. Pete, and he was in Cape Coral, 2 hours away. I got a better than new America for $7000. I say better than new because it had just had its 500 mile service which I didn't have to mess with, and it had dealer installed TOR shorties, AI removed, Sissy Bar and luggage rack, and the guy threw in a new T Bag glove bag. There are plenty of deals around making it unecessary to pay list price at a dealer.

There were many other great deals that I was considering when this one came along.

My dealer wouldn't take one penny off the list price. BUT, any accessories I bought with it were 10% off and free labor to install. I bought a tall sissy bar/rack, chrome covers (foot, sprocket, cam), chrome fork shrouds, tach, and cover.
I had to wait a week for my exhausts to come in.

Of course, the buying stuff has never stopped.

No, I bought from D&D Cycles in Pensacola which is the closest dealer (40 miles). They had the bike I wanted and they have a great service department. I drove home with the bike after first seeing it. I didn't bother to shop around.

BrianT.......I didn't try Pure Triumph yet either. It's not worth my ride if they don't seem to give you a deal. I'd still have to go to Palm Beach Triumph for servicing.

Yeah, they were a "hot item" even in 2002 when I got mine. I paid MSRP and got 10% of accessories for a year

My dealer gave me a speech about what list price means in England, a tee shirt and a very small bone to buy 3 years ago. Still very happy with the ride...Not with the prices for parts or repair.

When I look back, it really doesn't matter what kind of deal I got. I had absoutely no buyers remorse and feel like it was the best purchase I've made in 10 years. I would have paid way more than retail if I had known how much I was going to enjoy owning it.
