Hey Gang - Need Help!

I'm prepping for a long bike trip to Virginia from NJ - leaving this Thursday.
Tonight I pulled out the K&N air filter on my '03 Speedmaster after not running her for two weeks and found A LOT of gasoline in my airbox. The filter was saturated with fuel and there was about 1/8 of a teaspoon of fuel pooled in the corner of the airbox. Bike starts and runs, but I had noticed her having trouble breathing lately.
ANY IDEAS ON THE CAUSE AND/OR A SOLUTION?

I think this may have been covered a while back, but I did a search and couldn't find an answer. THANKS FOR ANY HELP/IDEAS YOU CAN GIVE!
-Chris

I shut my gas off every time I shut the bike off to prevent something like that. Might want to pull the oil filter and see if that smells like gas too. Might have been a stuck float or small piece of crud in the float needle allowing gas to overflow the bowl. If the oil smells like gas change it right away. Might want to just to be sure. Gas in the oil isn't good for lubrication.

Thanks Dog33!
I shut off my fuel valve as well, so I think it might just be fuel kicking back into the airbox from the carbs on decel... but I'm not sure. Anyway, I've cleaned the air filter and will change the oil tomorrow. Also, plan to swing by the shop/dealer and see if theyhave any ideas how to prevent this in the future. Maybe lean it out a little.

Thanks again!

Will do.

As for where, I'm leavin' the Triple at home in favor of a Speedmaster cruise down to Western VA, Waynesboro, Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway and then back across the state to the Chesapeake and a friend's place in Glouster Point across from Williamsburg. Then back North to NJ, if I don't decide to keep heading South/Southwest.

I had fuel leaking from the filter on the left side ( freak )
with the bike on the side stand and the fuel left on.
after pulling the bowl I found a float more than half
full of gas.
replaced float and no more leaks.

you may want to check your floats.

When I changed my airfilter I was supprized at strong smell of gas coming form the airbox. Maybe the cause of airbox explosion others have had problems with. I now turn the gas off everytime, and have had no problems.
