I came across a pretty nice '73 750 Norton Commando Roadster today and will probably have it in a couple of weeks. I used to have a '74 850 Roadster and for the time it was a great bike, hopefully this '73 750 will remind me of the sound and feel of the old "Snortin Norton's". Only time will tell. Skippy are you listening? larryshep

This thread is worthless without pictures.
Just kidding! Congrats and let us see it when you get it.

Love those old Nortons. My next new bike might be 20 years old. I'm trying to decide between a new Triumph Sprint ST and a Norton 850 Commando. Maybe I'll just get both!

Here's a picture of my '73. Sold it in Sept '02 to a collector out in Washington. Much faster than my Meriden Bonnie. Besides the Engine dying everytime I actuated the left turn signal, it was a great bike. You should be fine with the '73 750. Stay away from the '72 750 Combat motors. If you want a list of links for parts and what-not, give me a yell. Welcome back to Amal-Lucas hell.

Hey Tom, That Norton is a Beautiful Bike. Reading your post about your left blinker brought back memories of my old BSA and 3 Triumphs. Lucas really was the Prince of Darkness! How many times I drove down the highway at night and watch my headlamp begin to lose its brilliance and soon the motor begin to die? But a quick fix and they were great bikes again. The only things done to my '02 America in 34,000 miles is new rubber, plugs and chains. (i hate chains - hundreds of little moving parts). Well, I did make some 'voluntary' performance changes too.
Ride Safe,
Dennis

Well the 73 Norton did not work out, mainly because I found a more desireable bike in a 73 TR7-RV Tiger. In original condition. I'm more of a Triumph person after all I suppose. Re bilt engine and trans, all the parts and pieces are correct except for the muffflers and the Avon Super Venom tires. Now for some decent weather to start the break-in process. Photo's in my Gallery. Of course I just had to stay with Blue. larryshep

Thanks Pete, It's really interesting comparing the two side by side, the weight difference really stands out, the TR7 is about 110 lbs lighter, but it's a bear to kick, at least for my old leg, it will get better after I get a few thousand on it. larryshep
