Went out to get gas a little while ago. Light rain falling roads are wet.
I'm putting gas in truck,My back to the street, I hear a bike coming so just out of habit i turn to look. Lone Sportster coming down the street. I turn back to look at pump. I hear the sound of a bike sliding on pavement.
I turn around and a Pearl white sporty in laying in the street, rider is sitting on the curb.
Straight streach of road slight up hill Not a cage in sight. For one reason or the other he just fell.
I start to head over to see if he needs help, but 2 guys come out of the hardware store and run over, then a car stops, so he had 4 people there already.
On guy says "What happened?" guy dont answer gets up and walks over to the bike and tries to pick it up. THE WRONG WAY. Stands below the front tire, reaches across the bike and grabs the hand grip and tries to pick it up with on hand.Gets it about a foot off the road and drops it. Tries again but this time one of the guys there pick it up the right way for him. And they push it to the curb.
Guy didnt seem hurt, straight road..no curve, no cage involved could not have been doing more than 30, Just fell over. No helmet no gloves no eye protection and no idea on how to pick up a dropped bike....go figure.

Always sad to hear of any biker bite the dust, the first thing that springs to mine to me ££££/$$$$$ of damage...

I was caught in the rain on the way home after our mini meet today. A big ElectraGlide Harley went down right in front of me. He hit his front brake a bit too hard as he crossed a painted turn arrow and set it down fairly hard. He looked like he knew what he was doing when he picked it up though. Backed up to it and had it on it's wheels before I could pull over to help. I recognized the the "Man I hope no one saw that" look on his face.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

All the dumbasses must have rolled their bikes out of the garage for the first time this weekend.....
Friday on my way home, a Power Ranger pulls right up on my rear bumper at a light at a busy intersection, kicks down the sidestand, gets off and starts to adjust his jacket, but never bothered to buckle his helmet strap. Make the left thru the intersection and stop for the next light, this hero goes around me on the gravel shoulder. He makes a right and almost looses it twice.....
Then saturday, this 300# hillbilly is ridin' his hog wearing no more than overalls and sandals...you know...flip flops, shower shoes...WTF? He almost lost it too....

I don't know about anywhere else but in PA eye protection is still a requirement. Even if it wasn't not wearing it is just STUPID. It's very uncomfortable even to go up the road a few feet when working on a bike. If something hits your eye at speed it's done for. Idiots all over the place here this past weekend too. Too many to list!

Im not one to push my opinions down anyone else throat but I dont get it. Im a noob in essence but I just cant imagine riding with no protection. I do see it more with the sport bike crowd...no...the kids on sport bikes but those dudes on the cruisers in T-shirts, chaps flailing in the wind and a skull cap...man I hope I never see one of them go down. The only thing that really pisses me off...when the passenger isnt protected. Such cute girls on the backs of some of these bikes and they are wearing sweatshirts, shorts and flip flops. Its one thing to put mysel at risk but its not right to do it to someone else!

Dog__33 eye protection is mandatory in Ct also. The guy on the Sportster I discrided, I think was just trying to get to a nearby point A from a nearby Point B, Like I said a light rain was falling, he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans, and did not look wet. Just goes to show ya even if you are just running to the store for a pack of smokes...stuff can happen.

Its all about freedom of choice in states where the helmet laws allow it. Around here it seems that (from observation) 98% of the sportbike riders are wearing lids. At times you see them with full coverage lids and short pants in the summer. Cruiser riders for whatever reason seem to statistically (once again based on my observance) are more likely to not be wearing a lid. I dont make judgements as to any of this cause I believe in freedom of choice as long as the law allows it. I do think the crotch-rocket crowd chooses a helmet more so cause the bikes bascally look exactly like road racers....so they WANT to look like racers and this implies a helmet by definition. Cruiser bikes are more laid back and so are the riders to some degree. But thats just my opinion and I could be wrong

Like zmillon said, the only thing that realy bugs me about what somome chooses to wear, Is the kid on the crotch rocket, doing a buck 10 down the freeway, with sombodys half naked 17 yr old daughter on the back.
Just makes me want to slap um.

I think you're right. Now if they would only pay attention to the LEATHERS the racers are wearing too...
