Howdy all...haven't been around for awhile...anybody miss me? LOL...that's OK, it was a rhetorical question anyway.

I was going to order T-bike pipes last week, but they're out of stock. So while I'm waiting, I'm thinking about maybe fishtail pipes might go well with the retro look I have happening. I seem to recall somebody on here installing the aforementioned fishtails...I'd like some info on where, how much, how loud, pics, anything that might help me in my decision. My thanks in advance.

Big hello and snappy salute to all PGR.

Ride free, ride safe.

Strength and Honour.

There are a couple styles of fishtails you can get.

I got the ones I have from Jireh cycles, they are 36" and have a steel bffle welded in. I did put an extra baffle in the header end of the pipe to help. They are part number 64-339 ($59.99 each). 36 inches puts the top of the fishtail right at the axle.

Iron City Cycles has the ones that are straight 1 3/4" and 36" long. They are the style that TriumphDetroit has. I do not know if they have baffles in them or not (The description in the V-Twin Manufacturing catalog I have does not say). they are part number 30-0136 ($50.95 each).

Hi Rob, hi Ray...hope all is cool in your world.

Soren, thanks for info...the part # and price you quoted is actually for the 30" pipes...but you are using the 36" pipes, right? From your pic, that's about the length I want.

Yes, mine are the 36". I am not sure of the length that TriumphDetroit has, but I think he also added an extension.

Sorry about the mix-up on the part numbers. I will dig out my catalogs and find the right part numbers.

I have the 36" from Iron City. They are loouuuuhhhhddddd! Basically, they are drag pipes with fishtails. I ordered samson 10" baffles and had two 24" 1 3/4 pipes cut and expanded to fit the headers. The extensions were $10. The chrome shop is asking $120 to chrome them!

Yeah, I figured from the look of them they were just straight pipes with fishtail tips...but I didn't know for sure if they had a baffle. I think I prefer the look of the ones Soren is using, for my bike. The straight ones sure look good on that bike with the whitewalls, though.

Just checked my Jireh Cycles catalog. the 30" long ones are part number 64-339 and the 36" ones (the ones I have) are part number 64-373.

Very Cool! You don't have to worry about them being quiet. I ended up putting a baffle in the end of the header to deaden the sound a bit (after I got pulled over in Boise for loud pipes, but I think he just wanted to check out the bike).

When I installed the pipes, I used the stock exhaust hangers and just drilled a hole in the pipes and used a large sheetmetal screw.

I was not able to get the left side completely perpendicular because of the axle nut, but it is pretty darn close.

Can't think of anything else right now, except maybe to watch closely if you are wearing rain gear (I have a couple of melted spots ).

Soren, did you do the header baffle instead of the long one you and I talked about in the fishtail?

No, I have another set. The set that is on the bike, I have had for almost two years now. Put the baffles in not long after first Idaho Invasion.
