On every bump a bird-like sound comes from front wheel. It's always noticeable.
I tried to see if it was the lower fork cover compressing the fork from a standing position, but it doesn't the noise.
Only running on bumps. I think it's the floating mounting of the caliper. But it has to be grease there, under the rubber pipe that covers the assy of the floating mount.
Noone of you had this problem. It's not a real problem, but after long riding the continous noise makes me nervous.

Maybe squirt some WD40 up into the front shrouds. Mine used to squeak like that too.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I had the same $%^&*())$# problem, sounded like a bird on meth, comes from the fork shroud, you can give it a twist and will temporarily alleviate, but best fix is to skwert some hi-quality aircraft type spray lube up in there,I did and it fixed it for 2 years now.

If WD-40 is OK on the forks it must also be OK on the chain as a cleaning agent. If it eats O rings it will eat seals too.

that may be but you wont get WD-40 on the fork seals by spraying it up under the shrouds....you WILL et it on the inside of the stainless shroud which rubs on the lower section of the fork causing the "bird" like sound...you might possibly get some on the dust cover also...
Of course Pat never posted anything itn the WD-40 thread so might not get your sarcastic shot!

Whats up in there to prevent it from getting on the rubber parts? Never had mine off. There was no sarcasm there just an observation.

there is a gromet and an "abrasion ring" then a dust seal, then a snap ring then a oil seal...
the noise comes from the ID of the stainless shroud rubbing against the OD of the abbrasion ring...any spray (I perfere silicone) up under the shroud will be HARD pressed to get beyond the shroud/abrasion ring...and if ANY at all got to the fork tube itself it would be so little it wold be negligable...then it would have to get past the dust seal before and snap ring before the oil seal

Well I have to say this worked. I was getting an odd sound and I was convinced it was a serious problem with my brakes or speedo or something. 2 quick wd40 shots and she's quiet.
