I tried the search but for some reason pages of unrelated topics returned. I apologize if this topic has been covered. I'm new to Triumph and I'm researching a Triumph Bonneville Black. My question to the group is: How many miles per gallon are you getting with this bike?
Thank you in advance for any insight!

I was doing a post with the same topig, but not with a question.
I've a 790 Speedmaster from less than 1 week, and have discovered that this bike has awesome mileage. 20km with one liter is near 47 miles per us gallon with a cruising style riding.
My Kawasaki ZRX does 23-25mpg (10-12km/l) and my previous '04 Sportster 1200 is in the middle 34-35mpg (15km/l).

Here is one link discussed last October MPG Also, I just finished 2 500mile days...all Interstate...78-80mph (real speed) and my MPG's were at 45, 42, 40, 41...all related to how fast I was going. I find as the summer heats up I get better mpg...last year I often reached 50mpg. Pipes are Specialty Spares...jets are ..hum...can't remember. . Oh yeah, I had on my big Memphis Shades shield for the trip which really fought the wind...definitely impacted MPG since I usually ride with the Memphis Alley Cat.

John,
Mod's will have alot to do with gas milage and my TBA has all the Mod's we speak of here.
Rob05BA has a good explanation of it come to the NH rally and I will get him to tell you all about it.
Basically think of the engine as a pump the easier it draws (move air) the more effiecent it becomes.
On our recent trip to GA. Rob and I were going 145 to 155 miles before hitting reserve. We averaged between 45 to 50 miles per gallon.
Mod's: Freak, 45 mains, 155 jets, one shim with stock pipes with two baffles removed.
Hope this helps, welcome to the site.

My worst, riding at high speeds (90 - 115), was 43 MPG. Best, riding at saner speeds and with a slight tailwind, 57MPG. Average is around 48 - 50.

Ed, I can't ever figure how my bike is running great, plugs look great, and I get about 10 mpg less than you. I know my speedo/odometer is off. I figured it shows 2-3% less miles than I actually go. To make up the difference, though, yours would have to read more miles than you actually go. Have you calibrated your odometer with a GPS or over at least 10 miles of mile markers on the interstate?

Alot has to do with the way you ride. Wendys bike and my bike are set up the same. I tend to be a little more heavy handed and regularly run onto reserve before she does. Also the way you use gears also effects mileage.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. This will serve partially as ammunition to convince the wife to give the green light. The other part of the ammo is in the fact that, when she met and fell in love with me, my only transportation was a CB750. For four years. She has forgotten about those years -- tossed hair, close calls, and long trips into the mountains and along the beaches.
