Time for the folks from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, (and where ever else) to get together! The rally will begin Friday September 7th and run through Sunday September the 9th. We will meet up in the Ouachita Mountains on the border between OK and AR at the Queen Wilhelmina State Park. We plan on staying at the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge on the beautiful Talimena Byway both Friday and Saturday nights. You can't get there without hitting some of the best mountain roads in the Ouachitas! We plan on heading up to Mount Magazine on Saturday morning and returning to the lodge that afternoon, but if you would prefer to go your own way there are great roads in every direction! We would love to see a big group of Triumphs cruising through the mountains! Tmax and I will be there rain or shine, and we hope you join us. This will be a very laid back gathering, so riders of all skill levels (and brands) are welcome. Please, let me know if you are interested! I'll see about getting some group rates if we have enough people interested. The standard room rates are about $75 for a double. The food at the lodge is great, and they are friendly to us two-wheelers!

Angelis already has his vacation time accounted for. We hope he can find a way to be there, but for now he's out.

If Wyrm is coming we can split into two groups. He'll lead the really really really slow group. Actually maybe not, he'd just slow that group down!

The only time I'm slow is when I'm behind you and your "Slowmaster" sucka! Don't hate just cuz I have a Big Bore, Mr. Jealous Pants. Oh, and my wife says Terry doesn't have to cut my steak for me anymore and get me dressed in the morning, I'm a big boy now. Ha! Take That! No more special care and feeding instructions!

It sounds like this is going to be great! I can't wait to hit those mountain twisties again! Charlie- I wish we could have made it to GA. I'm already working on getting permission from "the warden" for next year. As of right now I think this is a Friday through Sunday event, but I'm open for anything. I think we figured more people would be able to get away for the weekend. I don't see any reason we couldn't have some people arrive early and stay late for some extra saddle time in the mountains! Wyrm, I happy to see that you have out grown your training pants. I assure you people, there was never anything more disturbing than seeing Wyrm in nothing, but a diaper and leather chaps riding down the road.

Awww...you promised you wouldn't say anything! Besides, these new Pull-ups are positively grand and they even have the Disney Princesses on them. I'm stoked man! Also, if it's THAT offensive to you, maybe you should take about 30 LESS pictures of it next time? Perv-o.

Maybe I can beg him to take more. With almost 20 years as trooper, he has plenty.

Skillet, Have you spoken to Yota? I hope you both can make it! Sounds like we will have a pretty good turn out. I've heard from a couple others that hope to make it as well. If we can just get Angelis to retire a year early he'll be free to join us!

Don't bother Thorn. Just get a Tourmaster sissy bar bag for $134.(assuming you have a sissy bar). You can get more in them. After the Ga Rally I think sadldlebags are overated and don't even hold that much. Soon as I get some extra cash, I'm going the that route. My saddlebags are fine for the rainsut and lightweight clothes but that's about it.

I don't care if you have to throw everything in trash bags and strap them to your fender. Just be sure to get there somehow! I actually just bungee cord my gym bag to the rear fender rack on my bike. It's cheap and functional!

The funniest part is that I haven't bothered removing it yet! It's as ghetto as you can get, but if I need anything from my sad little assortment of tools it right there beside me. I would like to point out that I used zip ties as well bungee cords to attach it.

I haven't spoken to the Yota, but I know he'll quit a job to go to a rally - he's a pretty cool dood! Despite what some may say. His romantic advances are subtle - so beware! Seriously, I'll be there - I am just hoping Yota will join me and maybe we can force JC into the ride.

I haven't had much time to look for a place for us to stay. Work is eating up my time. I get to spend the weekend in Albuquerque (sp?). Next week it will be Houston, and the week after that I'll be on a beautiful tour of Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho.
Somebody shoot me.... (actually I'm looking forward to WY, UT, and ID)
If anybody knows of anything good let me know. Otherwise I'm just taking a shot in the dark. I now the DeGray Lake State Park and Lodge is nice, but it's a little farther southeast. It might be worth looking into, but I really wanted the opportunity to spend some time on the Talimena Byway.

I was just checking some motel websites for Mena. Sun country Inn is $65 for one king or 2 queens up to $89 for King with Jacuzzi. Limetree Inn is $52 for a single queen. Outsoide of Mena there is the "Y" city Mountain Inn it has cabins and rooms. They said they specialize in groups. I lost the site because my son is rushing me to get off the computer. But I think it was $46 for a single.
