Yes, that is the most common problem, those torx bits! I went thru two on mine.

I got all but one out while going through 4-5 torx sockets and bits. On the last one I used Dinqua's advice and latched onto it with a vice grip. Busted it looks with no problems.

fido, You can also replace the torx bits with steel allen bolts available from any MC shop. There may be one or two places you cannot place them, but they are far easier to get off next time, and there will be a next time.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I used a good T-30; the kind that looks like its stuck in a 3/8 drive socket. Thought something was going to break, but it works just fine. In the days before I torqued things back together, used to tighten stuff back with about the same force it took to get it apart. DO NOT USE THIS TECHNIQUE ON CAM CAP BOLTS!! Use a torque wrench.

Also, get a good hold of the ratchet head with your non-pulling hand and keep downward pressure on it as you loosen. Mine were tight but I thought people were nuts for breaking the torx bits until I saw the effort it took to crack Benny's bolts loose up in NY. Holy crap they were tight!!!

Really? I broke at least two of those. Thank Zod for Sears' and Home Depot's return policy...

And don't torque them past 8NM as spec'd in the manual. My old torque wrench only goes down to about 12.5NM. I thought, "That's close enough, isn't it?" Right. Snapped two bolts before ordering a new itty-bitty torque wrench.
