Just got my autographed pic of Evel jumping the fountains at Caesers Palace back in '67 ( why, of course it is real,,the little card says it is ) but any-how...it is proof to my Harley buds he originally road a Trump...that engine is unmistakable in the picture

Evel said the reason he switched to Harley was they threw a ridiculous amount of money at him.

A.M.F. had MONEY back then??? And they didn't throw it into makin' a better machine?(oh how "American" can ya get? HUH?!)

I guess it's lucky for Harley then that Willie G. suddenly remembered his last name in the early '80s, and brought a good business sense(along with a passion for the CORE PRODUCT) back to the "Motor Company".

BTW...I saw Mr.Knievel a couple o' years ago speaking at the Del Mar(CA) Flattrack Races and Vintage Motorcycle Show, and I got'a tell ya....him don't look too good lately, Dude!

I'm starting to wonder if having almost every bone in your body being broken at one time or another while trying to jump over stuff on machines with MAYBE about 4 inches of suspension travel at each wheel during your career MIGHT have somethin' to do with all that. Ya think?!

(ever see a slow-motion replay of the Caesar's Palace Jump? T'wernt the jump that got him. Ain't no fun when ya bottom-out that there suspension, ya know)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Get this ~~ Evel became a Christian is sparking a revival everywhere he goes. It started in the Chrystal Cathedral with Robert Schuller. It's crazy.

I knew there had to be a reason he didn't kill himself in all those wipe outs.

There was a documentry done on him. I can't remember VH1 , Dsc or History one of those educational channels. They did his whole life it was kinda cool. Had interviews with him now all through it , he kind of narrated it.

Any mention of Knievel doing a jump on the TV had us knowing without question what we'd be doing during that hour.

"I got hurt real bad in Tacoma, Washington," Knievel says. "Had a severe brain concussion. Landed short. Hit the ramp, caught it on the rear wheel. I was riding a Triumph then, T-120 Bonneville. Then a 650 Bonneville Triumph.
"Norton was the first sponsor I had. Then I went to Triumph.
Knievel has claimed that the Triumph 650 was far and away the best bike he ever jumped with."

I remember when Evil came over to London to jump 13 busses at Wembley Stadium.

I had a wind up Evil Kineval motorcycle toy. That crashed all the time as well

Memories...I had the toy that you stuck a geared plastic "thingy" into it, pulled it and the bike would run and do wheelies...it crashed every time too
I also had an Evel Kenievel electric tooth brush...it was the rocket he tried to jump the Snake River with and sat on the ramp when it wasnt being used.

And later became the Patron Saint of Darwinian riders, providing hope that not all the idiots would perish doing stupid tricks.

Me too! Always wanted the van and all the stuff but never got it. I was a die hard fan until the snake river stunt.

I live 50 miles from his "hometown" and I've never gone to the museum or Evel Knievel days.
