These things always pop into my head. Would a suitably sized hole cut in the airbox and covered on the outside with duct tape prevent the dreaded Air Box Ka-Blooey?

duck tape works just fine.
I can fix anything wit duck tape.
I had a tow truck blow up once, and then I fixed it with duck tape.
It gets 400 miles to the liter now.
You have to use the silver duck tape for the improved milege thoo.

I'm not talking about fixing it. I'm talking about preventing it.

Just for a moment, when you start up, pretend your bike is fuel injected...in other words, don't use your throttle.
Best way to prevent an airbox blow-out.
