I'm new to the world of chains having owned only belt and shaft drive machines. I am searching about on-line trying to determine what I will buy to clean and lube my chain. I came on an interesting website of Digilube Performance Products who sells Ultra Film lube. In the chain lube tutorial, they speak of the different techniques used to lube a chain with solid bushings and O-ring type chains versus chains with formed bushings. Which do we have? Any other chain input appreciated by this chain novice.

It's not an O-ring chain it's an X-ring chain. Has a slightly better seal than the O-ring. But if you oil it regularly you can save quite a bit of money and get a stronger chain by getting a regular DID chain.
And yes the non-ring chains usually have a higher breaking strength.

A D.I.D. professional non-o-ring 525 chain has a tensile strength of 8,010 pounds.
A D.I.D. ZVM2 525 X-ring chain has a tensile strength of 9,000 pounds.
Time to rethink those preconceived notions.
OH, (I haven't got to use this for a while) ,
Next time, maybe do a little research.

I did but I didn't compare DID to DID I compared to other makes and it seemed to me in most cases the non O-ring was stronger. I did this a few years ago so maybe things have changed. In any case the non O ring is still more than strong enough.

The X-Ring is the only way to go if you are too cheap for a belt drive.

All major brands premium sealed chains are stronger than, or as strong as their premium non-sealed chains. When you factor in the wear index, well........................ save the standards for the mini bike.

Been running standard chains for 30 years. I lube them and have only had 1 failure. I change them and sprockets at the same time when worn. I don't think you get extra life out of a sealed chain unless you are lax about lube or live in a very abrasive enviornment such as sandy or dirt road.

Right. "X" type rings are superior. We knew that. And you can get them discounted.
